On Ranch Life
@frigwiggin I love that book sooooo muuchh. Autostraddle had a really good interview with Emily Danforth, too.
Interrobanged stared pensively out to sea as the evening breeze gently kissed her face. "You know," she said, "I'm really having trouble deciding on a font for my 'misandry 4 lyfe' tattoo." And then we were silent, left only with the sound of the waves and mournful cries of gulls.
Well SHIT, I turned 23 today. TOO LATE, OLD MAID.
@Decca SHIIIIIT YES I did a massive book report in Grade 9 on Murther and Walking Spirits (which is so Canadian in a particular English Loyalist Ontario way I just about died) and then read pretty much everything else he wrote, of which the only thing I remember is the origin of the word geek.
Did anyone else read that profile in the NYT last week, some Dude Reviewer was all "Who is this charming Kate Atkinson! I doubt the precious thing even knows she's being postmodern!" and she said basically she was well into a doctorate on postmodern literature and she FUCKING KNOWS when she's being postmodern.
Oh man, all of a sudden I am in a time machine back to 2009 when I had a shitty job that summer and watched endless T & S videos, and when I came home from work I would curl up in my (actual, literal) closet and listen to "Nineteen" while being nineteen, and cry.
But this is actually perfect.
Screech! Santa Olivia really is wonderful.
@Emmanuelle Cunt Oh no no, that was totally My Own Thing, my roommate was just very dirty and never cleaned. So thankfully not THAT dire.
Well, I had to scrub my old apartment's kitchen floor on my hands and knees every three days; my only revelation was that despite an avowed commitment to non-violence, I might actually kill my roommate.
@EKPinc IT IS, YOU BEAUTIFUL PERSON.
Constantly re-reading books from the library for the sexy bits as a 12 year old, man, those were the days.
