On "Peter Luger"

@olivebee I agree. Being polite is really the minimum, most basic amount of decency and recognition of personhood that one human can give to another.

On Famous People I Thought I Saw on the Street, But It Wasn’t Them at All

@Kristen I am not surprised Julia Stiles was glaring! I had a real life encounter with her at a bar in the West Village, and she was very unpleasant there, too. It was my roommate's 21st birthday and she had arranged for a private room...Julia showed up and insisted the management kick everyone out so she could use it. Kind of made the party though - united and pumped up in anger at Julia Stiles.

On A Stroll Down Fancy Pants Lane

@WhiskeySour There is a specific color she uses in her logos and designs that's called "Martha blue." Truth.

@jen325 He can appeal, but the process is typically a very long one. If the obligation is putting him at risk of imminent harm (and it sounds like it may be, if he won't be able to afford basic necessities) he can apply for permission to appeal on an expediated basis. I apologize for not knowing how to hyperlink, but here is the application: http://www.judiciary.state.nj.us/appdiv/forms/10498_fact_sheet.pdf and here is the application for permission to waive the $250 filing fee:http://www.judiciary.state.nj.us/appdiv/forms/10499_cert_stmnt_indigent.pdf. Go here for instructions on handling the appeal yourself if your bf cannot continue to retain an attorney: http://www.judiciary.state.nj.us/appdiv/forms/forms.htm

On Asking for a Raise: A Series of Conversations

@whizz_dumb That's interesting. I feel like there's an opposite bias against people with children (women especially) in my industry, and that having a child or taking maternity or paternity leave can be a major professional setback.
