On On the 41st Anniversary of Roe v. Wade

Hi Jia, thank you for posting this. I spent part of this morning at my local Planned Parenthood as a volunteer escort (buffers between the patients and the yelling protesters) and it is just all so ridiculous it makes you want to laugh and/or cry. Abstractly I kind of knew before I started volunteering what the protesters' "arguments" were, but standing and listening to old men blare absurd, offensive nonsense at me, patients, passerby, and employees for hours at a time is still shocking to behold. Glad to see the roundup you've got here.

On Another Argument for Banning Greek Life

@I'm Right on Top of that, Rose
Interestingly enough (or maybe not), when I was there a few years ago, they were known for being a largely Asian/minority frat. Not sure how long that's historically been true. But Tri-Kap's initials are the least of Dartmouth's Greek system problems.

@toastercat Also I don't even know if I got the job yet my stupid brain is just anxiously racing forward. I think part of it is that it would be a much more challenging job than any I've had before and I'm just worried I'll fail, alone in NY, with only the subway rats as my friends. Lots of scared brain parts active, with somehow very few of the adventure! parts kicking in. Sorry I'm rambling! Thank you for listening!

@supernintendochalmers & rosinator Thank you! This really helps. I've never really lived in a big city (DC feels manageable) and this would be my first big life step all on my own.

@talaria This isn't an international story but my parents once drove from DC to Minneapolis, a two day car trip, with me and the cat in the back seat. He was alert and a little worried during the driving but mostly curious, and he adjusted within minutes once he could start exploring the new place. He also needed to poo and pee pretty much immediately because he refused to go while we were traveling, poor lil dude. If you have treats and a litter box waiting I bet he'll be the happiest kitty. Congrats on the reunion!!

I am possibly getting a job in NY (currently live in DC) and am so so nervous about everything. Moving away from friends, boyfriend, family (although not too far) to go to bed bugs and expensive-everything NY is scaring me! Anybody have words of wisdom or comfort?

On Welcome Home

@all My googling led me to this quote which my inner 12 year old is enjoying very much: "...I wouldn’t let just anyone stick ‘n’ poke me...It kind of goes by your own judgment of who the person is.”
Wise words, Abigail Lynch, Student. Wise words. May you ever be associated with them through Google searches.

ETA bc I can't help it: THAT'S WHAT SHE SAID
