I have the best dog in the world.
You are a homeless teen who gives an imprisoned magician a vigorous rubbing. In exchange, he gives you a sweet ride and fake money to impress the crazy cat lady you have had your eye on. She finds out you aren't really rich, but it doesn't matter because her only other option is a much-older dude who wants her for a sex slave. You free the magician.
I've now said "this is NPR" out loud so many times sitting here at my desk, the words have lost all meaning.
Oh I don't know, maybe freaking learn how to love black coffee, like champions do?
@fruiting body Maybe try something like meetup.com? I know that's a totally cliche suggestion but I met some really rad people through my meetup snowboarding group.

@fruiting body I second/third the "reaching out to more casual/distant family, friends, or acquaintances"! Maybe think of this time as a time to discover new friends, or at least strengthen lagging relationships. I'm compulsively social, though.

@fruiting body Is the weather nice where you are? Find a bar with a patio and have a drink by yourself and make up stories about how mysterious and romantic you look. I did that in college all the time.
@fruiting body I text people who are acquaintences and try to make plans, even if it's just something small like getting drinks or whatever. And I try to make good on all those "we should _____ some time" offers. Sometimes when I force myself to be a little more social and push myself out of my comfort zone it leads to more social opportunities and helps pull me out of feeling alone.
@fruiting body Pedicure sounds like a good solution; I was going to suggest a massage but with a pedicure you get to see pretty toes for days and days.
@fruiting body call or write your faraway friends or aged relatives.. Even if it's just a quick "thinking of you" note. That always boosts my 'social' feeling!
I predict it will be a beyouncing beybey boy.
