@WaityKatie I don't really see this type of asshole in Columbia Heights that often. We have your more run of the mill assholes you find in every city, and fewer of DC's besuitted bros and panty hose types. But it may be also that I'm just not looking for them? Either way, those don't really bother me in my every day life.
@wee_ramekin I've lived here for 4 years, and rarely see those people since I spend more time in other neighborhoods and not on The Hill. The women I've met here are wonderful, whether they wear Ann Taylor, Target, H&M, vintage or ASOS. In fact, I forget those other people exist here until I read an article like this one reminding me they walk among us.
On Not Shaving
On OKCupid, there's a question about whether women have an obligation to shave. It seems like 90% of men says yes. Not just that they prefer women to shave, but that women have an obligation to shave, like society will somehow cease to exist if women stop shaving.
The DC Facebook group is here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/dchairpin/
Everyone should join and help us plan a June meetup. And if you're a fast reader, you can read "Are You My Mother?" by Alison Bechdel and join us for book club next Tuesday.
I guess I'll never find good food because every restaurant I go to has a beautiful woman in it the second I open the door.
@candybeans I'm glad Toby could cheer you up a bit. Freckled dogs for the win.
This seems like an appropriate time to post a picture of my dog eating a cupcake:
@Faintly Macabre I like how the question marky woman in the illustration is approximately 40 months pregnant.
I'm going to the DC Hairpin meetup tonight (http://image.blingee.com/images19/content/output/000/000/000/796/752859637_631622.gif), so good luck for me!
I plan on leaving my estate (all $20 worth of it) to my dog, so I guess this is good news for him because there's no way I'm giving up my cuddly space heater.
