On Nice to Meet You, Internet

@SarahP My mother is super into weeding. I used to be SO EMBARRASSED when she'd insist on pulling a few weeds in the flower beds outside my grade school.

On Nice to Meet You, Internet

@or Elsa! Someday I want to have the presence of mine to yell "My grandmother died!" at one of those "smile, sweetheart"-spewing asshats.

No need to mention that my grandmother didn't die recently...

On Nice to Meet You, Internet

@OhMyGoshYouGuys I refer to applying makeup as "putting on the face that I keep in a jar by the door" and now this guy is sullying it.

On Nice to Meet You, Internet

@lora.bee I need to learn how to eat with chopsticks. I could eat and write code at the same time!

On The Cora Crawleys of the Gilded Age: "As fast as our honorable, hardworking men earn money their daughters toss it across the ocean"

@tiny bookbot And it's on Project Gutenberg! For free, in a variety of formats! Also I love your name. It's so entirely appropriate for recommending books.

I try never to miss an opportunity to plug Project Gutenberg. Disclaimer: I'm not affiliated with them except as an occasional volunteer proofreader.

On We Did It!

@leon s A couple-three years ago, I determined that I'd spend 0.5% of my entire life up to that point playing games on my Steam account.

On Lionel Shriver on obesity and the surplus of attractive characters in fiction: "The solution is to get a grip and put human beauty in perspective"

@pollypeachum A few months ago a family member sent around one of Fox News's young-people-are-ruining-everything articles. I was pissed off enough to hit reply-all and said something like "I didn't not kill myself when I had depression so I could hear that there's nothing to live for now."

My super-awesome aunt/godmother--who is almost 70 years old, which is old enough to know whether or not it gets better--replied to me and said that she's sure I'm going to lead an interesting and fabulous life. So hell yeah, I'm gonna get on that. As soon as I finish college.

On Scandals of Classic Hollywood: The Ecstasy of Hedy Lamarr

My e-reader is named HEDY LAMARR. The internal storage is named HEDY, and the microSD card is named LAMARR.

Just thought I'd share. Most of my other devices have names, too.

@nothingcutesy Thank you! I'm off to add to my electronic library.

I like the idea of reading in a British accent and then getting stuck with a British mental voice. I'm giggling now
