On Ask Ladies About Engagement Rings

@Kirsten Hey@twitter My wife and I did this -- started out with very modest rings and then bought nicer rings a couple of years into our marriage, when we were more established financially. Neither one of us had initially planned it that way -- we kind of made the decision on a whim. But it was actually a really fun and sweet thing to do together, treating each other to a lovely piece of jewelry, paid for by the hard work we had done so far in our life together. My new ring is big and shiny and gorgeous and I don't feel the slightest bit tacky about it.

On Baggage, "Bed Death," and Suspected Infidelity Triangles

On The Forest Dolls of Hillsborough, New Hampshire

@carbonation Maybe the author is only 15 and his mom was also 15 when he was born. This is going to drive me crazy.

On The Forest Dolls of Hillsborough, New Hampshire

@EternalFootwoman That was my first thought too. I am 33 and they didn't even exist when I was doll-aged.

On New York: The Besieged Children

@NeverOddOrEven All good points, and I hope your sister and her husband are able to start their family very soon. But you're right that it's not the point of this article at all. The kids in the article are not available for adoption, because their families are working to get them back (and many should never have been removed to foster care in the first place). These are not "kids waiting for homes and families." They have families.

On Mascarapedia, Volume I

@Anastasia Beaverhausen I have very few opinions about makeup, but Volum Express is the best! And so reasonable. I'll spend money on nice foundation or whatever, but it's hard to drop $25 on a tube of mascara every two months.
