On The League of Ordinary Ladies: Keep Them Googling

You know, I do the thing with getting an extra number too. I started doing it because I was the recipient of an extra number once in the Kupat Holim pharmacy. I went at time when the waiting room was packed, mostly with ladies and gentleman mostly over the age of 75. I thought I would have to wait an hour, but this young women sidled up to me and surreptitiously presented me with a better number. I was so grateful, so I started doing it too. I usually give the number to someone who looks like they don't have all day to wait in line, which I guess means I give it to young people. Is that terrible? Is it better than giving it to attractive people? Anyway, I still do it. I'm not very good at butting in line, so I figure this is my way of making up for all those times someone physically pushed me out of the way at the shuk.

On The League of Ordinary Ladies: Home Décor

@Esther C. Werdiger -- love love love these! Also, they _are my life_.

In addition to the usual chatchkis, _my_ apartment came with a gold-painted antelope head on a plaque that my landlord apparently got for doing something awesome in the army, an anchor, several amphorae (yes, the kind ancient Greeks liked to use for wine), an anchor, and two shells (like, the kind you shoot out of a tank). Welcome to Israel, Sophia!

Re: triangles in Hebrew, I still haven't managed to get a good haircut after a YEAR living here -- everything turns out trashy or dowdy or some odd combination of both. I need a magazine picture of amazing bangs. Or an amazing "pony", I mean. BUT I do know a lovely Canadian woman who does waxes -- she is very fast, and SPEAKS ENGLISH. She lives in Tel Aviv, though. Still, I'll hook you up.

@Esther C. Werdiger cool thanks. :) we'll see -- i might have my boyfriend's lovely family over for dinner, though the thought of finding a whole "hodu" and baking the goddamn thing in our questionably electrified oven is a bit daunting. but we should meet up in any case! i'll send a msg on the google group.

@Esther C. Werdiger There _must_ be more than two in the whole country, right? How do we find out?

The best thing for my yoga practice was moving to country where I don't understand the language. I know enough to get "downward dog" and "plank", but all references to chakras and turning the third eye inward are lost on me completely. :)

Meanwhile, when is the next Tel Aviv Hairpin meetup, hmmmmm, Esther?
