On Farewell, Jane

I can't live without Bargain Bin. It's not going to happen. As a frequent internet shopper with an eye for the cheap and stylish with never a plan for Thursday nights (are the networks even trying anymore?) I hereby step-up and volunteer to be a replacement bargain finder. I'm not sure if I am witty enough to fill Jane's shoes, but dammit I can browse Anthro, West Elm and Asos like no one's business.

On Friday Bargain Bin: The Leftovers

@Daisy Razor I am seconding this idea. My parents are from Nebraska and I found a photographer on Etsy that sells photographs of the Nebraska countryside. I bought some prints and framed them with a some frames from Hobby Lobby. They love them.

On Friday Bargain Bin: The Gramophone

Not that it makes it that much cheaper, but if you must have the Gramophone, RH is having their Friends & Family sale now. Enter the code "FRIENDS" for 20% (about $50 off).

The shipping on it is still $21. Boo.

On How to Carry a Knockoff Designer Handbag

The fashion industry has put on a very good marketing campaign about the evils of counterfeit designer goods and making the public think that they are one of the primary sources of terrorism funding. In actuality funding for terrorism comes from oil and other petroleum by-products, drugs, human trafficking, arms trade, private donors, counterfeit money, etc. Conditions for factory workers in China are awful no matter what they are making, whether it is a fake purse or more wal-mart crap

On Ask a Clean Person: Autumnal Cleaning Conundrums

I dyed part of my hair purple last week and I made a mess all over my counter. I found that nail polish remover (I use the pure acetone formulas because they work way faster) removed the dye.

On The Modern Foundling Wheel

@wharrgarbl Every state has a safe haven law. The time limits just vary - dramatically in some cases. North Dakota gives you a year while there are some states that only give you three days. I'm not super fancy with the links -- http://www.nationalsafehavenalliance.org/states/

On Ask a Clean Person: Laundry School — Lint and Static and Ironing, Oh My!

@laurel If you check Amazon you will find the inevitable people who couldn't make it work, but I've had a T-Fal Ultraglide Easycord Iron for two years and I like it. I disagree with those who say that safety features are overrated as I somehow did not burn my house down after leaving my old iron (some crappy $10 model with no auto shut-off) on while I worked in England for six weeks.

On Friday Bargain Bin: Now That We've All Made Our Beds

@missvancity I got my super cute one piece swimsuit at Walmart for $33. I get tons of compliments and it also comes in plus sizes.

It has a super cute Esther Williams / Marilyn Monroe retro vibe. I'm not sure why there appear to be boy short looking legs in the photo.

On Friday Bargain Bin: Now That We've All Made Our Beds

@Nina B.@twitter I use curlers like those all the time. My hair is fine and wavy, so I blow dry it to about 70% dry first. The most import thing when you roll is to not change direction. I start at the end and roll to my scalp, then bend to secure. In the morning I slowly unwind and then pull apart and use a bit of Weldea rosemary hair oil to try and control frizz. You can also use it beforehand.

I love the look. My hair comes out super curly, not frizzy and they are comfortable to sleep on. Plus I just pin my hair up at night and I can always get at least one more day out of the look.
