On The Best Time I Called in to a Radio Advice Show
KROQ! I remember when this show first came on the air when I was in middle school . . . it was like an R-rated version of YM's "Say Anything." I was relatively virginal, so it was top-notch voyeurism into a sexual world that I had hardly begun to discover firsthand.

On Ask a Clean Person: Let's All Make... Our Beds
On the question of sharing a bed without sharing bedding: one other solution is to take a cue from the Austrians, who traditionally (even on double and queen beds) make the bed with a fitted sheet on bottom, and two twin-sized comforters in duvets folded in half (width-wise) directly on top of the fitted sheet. At night, duvets get unfolded and used individually, but when it comes to making the bed, all you do is fluff the pillows, fold the duvet, and you have a neat looking bed. Because they serve as sheets, the duvet covers and pillowcases are washed regularly, but it really is a low-maintenance and classy solution. I couldn't find many pictures, but the one toward the end of this blog post would give an idea: http://www.awayshewent.com/2010/09/luzern-and-train-to-innsbruck-austria.html

On It Grows Back
"My entire head is suddenly a sensor." This was my FAVORITE part of having a shaved head. Windy days were ecstatic; I could feel hats move around with my expressions; pillowcases were softer. This was such a delight to read -- thank you for sharing so many of the exciting aspects of this experience (that I had almost forgotten to remember).

On I'm Going to Talk Briefly About My Baby Now
Pieces of advice 1-3 are rather intuitive for we non-parents. But 4 eludes me. Why never whisper? Will they learn to sleep through noise if you talk at normal volume? Is whispering precious rather than necessary?

On Acne Makes Us Do Crazy Things
@Beck Rea@facebook Damn! I wish it were a magical cure for all. It sure felt like magic to me. I've also heard really good things about Ayurvedic cooking to reduce heat in the body, but haven't tried it . . .

On Acne Makes Us Do Crazy Things
@scojo I have had the same experience with a gluten free diet. Within two weeks of cutting gluten my skin wasn't just clear, it was GLOWING. Now I use only very mild cleansers and creams, and deal with maybe one or two pimples at the same time every month. This after twenty years of painful, scarring, unabated breakouts.
For all who are afraid of making such a big change to their diet, I just have to say that Mere is absolutely right: when the benefits are SO worth it, any difficulties adjusting your foodstuffs will seem minor! I hope this helps some of you!

On Finance 101: Debit Cards, Weddings, and Peaceful New Careers
In the spirit of helpful advice away from a $4500 dress, I got mine at Nicole Miller, who seems to have as her ethic the design of many COMFORTABLE wedding dresses that run around the $600-$1000 price range. I've never felt more gorgeous, especially given that the dress, while a splurge, didn't break the bank.

On Jane Demystifies All Beauty Secrets in Five Minutes
@km1312 No kidding . . . even with her normal at the center of the room I was squirming watching all of the vapidity bouncing off of the white walls, tables, plates, furniture . . .
