@Madeline Shoes I feel bad saying "relaxed" because really my boss is a great manager and model human being and cares a LOT about what we do. But he's just so big-picture and so trusting, that he doesn't care what I do minute-to-minute. and at this (relatively quiet) point in our yearly production cycle, I could do my work with my eyes closed.. I am sorta lazy/complacent by nature and find it very hard to get motivated. Really not my boss's fault; if he were more of a hardass/micromanager I would be mad and resent him.
ETA: but yeah in the arts overall, I've had pretty terrible bosses. my current one is a unicorn.
@SwissMeringue hey awesome! crossing my fingers & toes. Hope even if you don't get it, that you find an appropriate escape from your current job, cuz nobody needs that level of disrespect.
@SmartCookie uggghh yes, I'm a little stressed out about it, in that I haven't decided if I should do a few handmade gifts. I am leaning toward NO.
@planforamiracle Hahahahahahah. Oh, you mean Adam Levine, as in, the subject of this post? Way to pay attention, me ;)
@Madeline Shoes OH MAN, good for you for being proactive. I also work at an arts nonprofit with a relaxed boss and I sometimes angrily stew about not feeling fulfilllllled by my jobbb when really it's cuz I spend too much time reading the internet.
And yes, my experience is also that grants are all about being meticulous. Label everything VERY CLEARLY. Imagine that the assessors are looking for an excuse (like missing pages, wrong support material file formats, etc) to throw out your application before having to read it.
@yeah-elle That is really, truly great. YAY!
@deathcabforcutes I third this idea! my long-distance bestie and I have just started trying this after finally saying no to sporadic week-long text conversations that went "no wait when are yoooouuuuu free for a phone date?"
@apolsasam Wow, did you actually read the pie chart? Or are you just coming here (and to every other comment thread) to spam/bait us with your link to your SEO-optimized livejournal?
@katiemcgillicuddy YES to this gif. the bouncing curly locks. the deft scarf removal. those lips. the beguiling smirk on one side of his face, that only lasts a split second; was he or wasn't he checking us out?
uuhhhh who is the guy in the photo for this piece? it looks kinda like Ian Somerhalder who I am embarrassed to have had a crush on whilst watching "LOST" :/
