On Lingerers, Admirers, and Silent Girl
@Snork Juice I've heard good things about-- believe it or not!-- CBT for Dummies, but the gold standard is Burns' "Feeling Good" book. Very, very solid work. (He doesn't dismiss or demonize the use of meds, just for the record-- the books are about CBT, not an examination of therapeutic meds.) Clients who've worked with Burns' workbook have a lot of good to say about it (checked it out from our local library; and more than one has said that it made actual counseling way, way less stressful, while others said it helped them express themselves more clearly. One client said it helped have the confidence to her "fire" her counselor when she felt the counselor was dismissing her issues.
Full disclosure: I am NOT trained in any form of mental wellness treatment or human services. I'm an English major. I've just worked at a domestic violence shelter for 12 years.

@Snork Juice - My first suggestion is actually not therapy-- it's CBT workbooks. CBT doesn't work for everyone, but in many cases, it's self-guided enough that it works for people who get anxious at the thought of talking to a stranger-- or anyone-- about what they're going through. (I admit to a bias, though-- CBT isn't a miracle cure, but I've seen it work for so many of my clients.)
I'll also note-- as someone who's been sober for a number of years-- that anyone with alcohol or substance issues might actually try addressing those first. It can be a chicken-and-egg kind of thing, but at other times, getting clean & sober addresses the issues behind the addiction at the same time.
Anyway. The first thing that's ringing a bell for PA is Persad, but I'll do some digging & see what else I turn up.
Congrats on the job, too!

@Snork Juice If you're in the US, and you can pass on your general location-- county / state is enough-- I can do a bit of digging. Lots of my clients are broke / don't qualify for state/gov't aid, but need assistance of some kind, so we have to get creative.
Don't know if I can help, but I don't know that I can't-- and if I can, I will.

@Christina Brophy@facebook I don't usually go for the whole OMG got to take care of him thing, plus there's the whole demi-sociopath issue, but... daaaaaaamn.

@SomeGayGuy - BG2 is AMAZING. And they're coming out-- supposedly!!-- with a NEW BG. Allegedly, anyway. Go here, read this-- http://www.metafilter.com/113357/The-child-of-Bhaal-stirs
I felt SO BAD for Anomen, though-- definitely lousy situation. But he was just way, way too young-feeling for most of my PC concepts. Solaufein was a pretty good one-- did you ever play the Angelo mod? And Gavin worked pretty well for BG1.
@AmbiSinister - And Valen is Kaiden! And Lucien's VA turns up on the Bethsoft forums to chat with people sometimes. Seems like a really nice guy.

@PistolPackinMama This has nothing to do with cleaning, but every time I see your username, I hum that song for hours. Win!

On Friday Bargain Bin: IRL Edition
I went to the local consignment & thrift stores. Didn't find one of the things I was looking for (cargo pants), did find the other (black leather slides, 9$), and found two things I wasn't looking for (bronze-toned hedgehog ring, white enamel rabbit ring, 4$ apiece). Then I had cheesecake & played Skyrim.

@phylogenetic I love the use of "hipster," because it tells me something about the person using it, for better or worse!
