Weekend Roundup

young witchesWelcome to the end of another week, in which we got too high, read our horoscopes, remixed Loyal, drank a bunch of cider and then a bunch of wine, learned from our Dairy Queen sisters not to masturbate with curling irons anymore, spent 36 hours in San Antonio, took on the summer, asked Baba Yaga, talked to Jenny Slate, defended our emotions, and wrote emails to our literary agent. Have a lovely weekend, and we'll see you back here on Monday.

Thanks so much for posting those 'scopes. Mine is still kicking around in my head, especially this part: "Something in you longs to feel a part of a greater community and it is in your best interest to reach out. In the act of speaking up when those around you are treated unjustly, you garner a greater understanding of yourself and your beliefs."

It's been a tough transition into summer (90s already and here to stayyy) so it's nice to have some aspirational tasks to distract myself from the heat, etc. Not that conflict is my strong suit, but hey gotta start somewhere. :)

@adorable-eggplant Mine was exactly what I needed to hear.

Also, the weather has been WEIRD around here lately. Want to trade places for a few days?

@Rookie (not the magazine) (not that there's anything wrong with that) Naww, the only way out is through now. Must acclimate myself to the change by swimming a lot and consuming adequate amounts of vinho verde. It's the only way.

I had been waiting for the Rabbit for the entire last week of June. Why is GR so good? Also agreed: re light wines and swimming. One week till the pool opens. I also am feeling surprisingly into the Mercury Retrograde starting tomorrow because June Gloom and you know what, I'm okay with being really pinche slow right now and just havin' a sit.

but now it is Negroni time.

adorable-eggplant

@PennyCentury June Gloom! That is the name for what I am feeling, for sure. I love the galactic rabbit because it stares into my soul and gives me a little shake, but it's so damn sweet even when breaking some bad news.

PennyCentury

@adorable-eggplant I am a firm believer in June Gloom! Also sending good vibes your way. Also music for June Gloom which for me has been the new Solange album (especially Bad Girls) and moodily watching ice melt in my glass.

Onymous

@adorable-eggplant Ugh the summer transition was brutal. We were doing great doing great high of 80 high of 80 then bam summer. Why do people even live in Texas?

I don't regret it but I've spent the last pointing accusing fingers at myself in the mirror for knowingly taking a job in an un-air-conditioned warehouse. In May. In Texas. What was I thinking‽

adorable-eggplant

@Onymous I think the transition this year was really brutal. At first all the moisture was like a gift: some beautiful t-storms, and then relative cool. And then, ugggghhhh nooo. Mother nature giveth and mother nature taketh away.

More power to you cranking it out in an un-air-conditioned space. That's officially hardcore.

Five Things I Liked This Week, now that I am in a slightly better mood a few days after being unceremoniously broken up with:

1. Kittens!
2. My dad has made dinner for us every day this week, saving me from one of my many tasks while my mom is away
3. The dresses I bought on sale this week. (There are three of them. No regrets.)
4. I may or may not have written some breakup material for my next stand-up performance
5. This week's Inside Amy Schumer

@Rookie (not the magazine) (not that there's anything wrong with that) I was hoping there'd be 5 things. Mine are:

1. Tex-Mex
2. Swimming
3. Friiiiiiiiiday
4. Cucumbers
5. Strawberries

Ta-da! Congrats on the dresses. I just got a navy blue one that is rocking my world (haha, shoulda put it on the list).

Yes! The Hairpin was so GOOD at music and advice this week.
1. Baba-yaga, Galactic Rabbit, Amy Schumer, and Ask Polly- for filling my anxious heart with calm. Most anxiety is from being not sure if I'm going to get dumped/major conflict this weekend?
2. Pot luck tonight, knitting yesterday.
3. I'm really close to getting free biofeedback therapy!!
4. Putting so much music on repeat this week, getting me through the day.
5. Possibly new cell phone this weekend? Must decide on the plan/carrier...

Let's see..

1. Finding out I am teaching summer school, which is an opportunity to do all the fun stuff I wanted to in the school year but didn't have time to because of Common Core.

2. 2 cute new tops, one cute pair of shorts.

3. Lifting more at the gym than I realized I could.

4. Having some good me time this week.

5. Girl's night. :]

SPORTS!
ugh!

The Seattle Storm are doing better but the first week or two was just rough. It was my fault I got excited because Sue Bird was back and Sue Bird is fucking magic. I'm just kind of spoiled by the sneakily good Storm of (the second half of) last season.
And would it kill them to go for an offensive rebound. ONCE?

The Sounders are taking names though (we will not speak of the New England Revs).

I am so hoping Ghana knocks the USMNT the fuck out because Oba/Dempsey have been amazing and I want Dempsey back on the squad.

Rookie (not the magazine) (not that there's anything wrong with that)

@Onymous I'm going to Seattle at the end of the month and forgot to check the Storm schedule! Going to go do that now, because the only other sports I found in town were the Mariners, which are acceptable, but mostly because I want to eat ice cream out of a bowl shaped like a hat.

Since it is a quiet Saturday morning, I just wanna say how I miss the 'Pin Friday threads sometimes. But that the music game is always on it over here and still so much more chill than the BF commentariat. That's all.

Dizzy

@PennyCentury While I've always been more of a lurker than a commenter, I learned so much from those threads.

Totally with @Up_cubed on the on-pointness of the 'Pin this week. Galactic Rabbit knocked the wind out of this Gemini.

Thien

Hi!
Nice pic! I like it so much! Thanks for share. More wait...
