The New York Times Lens blog just published the "My Hometown" project, in which 3,000 teenagers from 45 states photographed their natural habitats, and the slideshow featuring 145 of the best photos is really lovely. [Lens]
teens, photography, the youth, hometowns, all of america as seen by teens
Aw, some of these are really beautiful (like the man waiting for the bus in NYC!). I wish I could try harder to see something beautiful and special about my hometown, which is frankly part of the armpit of the Central Valley of California.
Does anyone else feel like there is a disproportionate representation of Salt Lake City?? It's kind of funny. All these are lovely, though. Yay photo projects!
My friend's daughter has an photo entry in this! It's #78 taken in West Sacramento. This girl has got some crazy talent.
So, so, so looking forward to this.
