"Down to You," Robin Adler & Mutts of the Planet

An amazingly cool cover of my very favourite song by Joni Mitchell (or any song, ever, in the world, probably?)

in the morning there are lovers in the street / they look so high / you brush against a stranger / and you both apologize / old friends seem indifferent / you must have brought that on / old bonds have broken down / love is gone / oooooh love is gone

In the still (I didn't watch the video), the dude looks kind of like Frank from PostSecret!

Is this a safe space to admit that I don't like Joni Mitchell? I just don't get it.

@MaxBraverman That's okay; it means more Joni for me!

@MaxBraverman I won't try to convince you that Joni Mitchell is AMAAAAZING. I will only say...

You've had lots of lovely women
Now you turn your gaze to me;
weighing the beauty and the imperfection
to see if I'm worthy.
Like the church, like a cop,
like a mother
You want me to be truthful
Sometimes you turn it on me like a weapon, though,
and I need your approval.

@raised amongst catalogs I agree about the lyrics being good, but the voice and the delivery ruin it for me.

@MaxBraverman I totally get what you're saying; I'm sure there's an artist I have similar feelings about.

And off the same album:

It always seems so righteous at the start
When there's so much laughter
When there's so much spark
When there's so much sweetness in the dark

*clutches heart and dies*

Wow, I used to think this song was uncover-able, but this is phenomenal... I feel that you know the lyrics on a level more than just memorizing them. And the instrumentalist do a fantastic job too. Great job guys!@y

OH, "People's Parties/The Same Situation" from the same concert!

Tears flooded into my eyes just reading those lyrics! I'm a sap.

This does Joni justice, and kind of makes up for how James Blake's 'A Case Of You' makes me want to kill him, or myself, or someone else nearby.

I love her voice, lyrics, piano playing. but I don't like long flute interludes.
