Things on Television

There was much to watch this weekend — football, Girls, the Golden Globes; golden girls with football globes, etc. Here's a few red carpet slideshows, from the New York Times, The Cut, and the L.A. Times, if you're interested, and then to briefly combine the other two: couldn't the equally blindingly beautiful Allison Williams and Tom Brady be related (it's more noticeable in video)?

Elsewhere, a new Timbaland-produced Justin Timberlake and Jay Z. song, "Suit and Tie."

I don't think Girls should've won, but I'm glad something besides Modern Family did.

@Slutface Yeah, does this mean 30 Rock will never be nominated again since it ends this year? That's a shame since it's a much more self-aware-show-for-women than Girls.

The three funniest shows on TV weren't even nominated for Best Series (Parks&Rec, Happy Endings, New Girl) (unless you count animated and then Bob's Burgers should also be in there) so I wasn't super invested. It seems like if you're a show that's funny-weird and not either awkward-funny or mainstream-funny, you won't get noticed by Hollywood.

Beatrix Kiddo

@Slutface Are you just tired of Modern Family winning, like I am? Or do you think Girls is actually better? I didn't really think many of those shows should have been nominated at all.

@Beatrix Kiddo I would've liked to have seen Veep win, but I knew that wasn't going to happen. The thing with Girls is that it is no more a comedy than Greys Anatomy. There are humorous bits here and there, but I think of it more as a drama.

There are always interesting things are reported on television and it is an entertainment for most people. In my opinion, in the event that disseminate through the media is always inviting pros and cons. dentist houston

cool...I like it.@j

Huzzah the sports, etc! Excellent football in which Baltimore wins (seriously, did you see that game, INCREDIBLE) and then Tina Fey and Amy Poehler being hilarious with drunk celebrities. My cup runneth over.

@RK Fire thanks for the HSWS! The bracelet amazingly matched a "statement necklace" I borrowed from my sister for a wedding Saturday. Made a plain Jane black dress look great! And yeah--go ravens hon ;-) !

@DIES IMMORTALES!!! Oh YAYAYAYAYAYA I'm so glad you got it and I'm so sorry it took me so long to send it out!

Ugh, football. The Falcons chose this weekend to give me a heart attack. They played so well for three quarters and then suddenly forgot what a football is, how to catch and throw it, where to be on the field, how to watch what other people around them are doing, and possibly even what legs do. Ridiculous! Utterly ridiculous! I mean, at least they won it, but way to do it by the skin of your teeth, gentlemen.

Also, I have no idea what to think about the new JT song. It sounds like more than one song! I dislike the first part and then I really, really enjoy the rest! I don't understand!

@Scandyhoovian - I think I like it! But I have been listening to a LOT of "How to Dress Well" lately, so I was primed to like it.

(if anyone doesn't know about this 'total loss' album that game out last year, start w/ "& It Was U". Get all the way through, cuz as much as it starts out good, it becomes AWESOME.

@Scandyhoovian How bad did it piss you off when Pete Carrol tried to pretend he didn't call a timeout on the final field goal? Amazing what a bastard that guy is.

@katiemcgillicuddy SO BAD. But I'm also bad at holding onto sports rage (which is probably good considering my husband holds it for days).

@Scandyhoovian That is good, I hold onto sports rage like it's my own children. Pete Carrol makes it easy, though.

Hahahahahahaha, this just happened:

And by "just happened", I mean "was Photoshopped by someone awesome on the Internet (not me)".

@wee_ramekin For some reason this mash-up makes the face verge on "The Scream" territory for me.

@wee_ramekin Good sweet baby god, that is amazing.

WHOA, Kaley Cuoco, that is a bold shade of lipstick.

@frigwiggin LUCY LIU. Good god she is amazing.

@frigwiggin I like the women that don't know what to do with their arms.

Valley Girl

@frigwiggin Lucy Liu is a vision, always. Apparently she's getting on Worst lists which is the most ridiculous thing ever.

Salma Hayek and Rosario Dawson were also breathtakingly gorgeous. And I've been watching Kerry Washington killing it on Django red carpets all over the world and she kept up the hot streak last night.

@frigwiggin No one watches Southland, which is a shame because it's absolutely compelling/amazing, and if you love Lucy Liu, you gotta see her performance in it. Breathtaking.

@Valley Girl I thought Glenn Close, Amy Poehler (look at that suit!) and Tina Fey looked flawless (from the NYT slideshow).

Valley Girl

@wee_ramekin Amy has been glowing lately. Divorce looks great on her.

I'm Right on Top of that, Rose

@iknowright Lucy Liu is incredible in Southland. That show is tops.

@Valley Girl I've been saying the same thing. She's looked so pretty on Parks&Rec recently, and Will Arnet was on 30 Rock last week and was looking a lot less tired than normal. Hopefully they're both happy.

Taylor Swift's pissy reaction to losing to Adele at the Golden Globes has reinvigorated my sense that there is justice in this world, even if it is just a fleeting grimace on an over-hyped starlet's face. (It's ADELE, Taylor. You can't beat Adele.)

Hot Doom

@I'm Right on Top of that, Rose Right!? That was my favorite bitchface in a long time.

Also, I need to go all fangirl on Naomi Watts' red dress because Oh My Word, that color! The train! the Cut!

@I'm Right on Top of that, Rose Oh man, I am so looking forward to the new hit Taylor Swift song inspired by this event.

@I'm Right on Top of that, Rose Yes! It only confirmed my belief that Taylor is a cold-hearted bitch in real life. I don't buy your act Taylor!

I'm Right on Top of that, Rose

@Hot Doom Naomi always looks unreal to me, like she's stepped through a portal from the 1920s and decided to hit some red carpets. She's gorgeous.

@wee_ramekin The best was when Adele got on stage and basically cackled her way through a speech about how she didn't think she'd actually win and just showed up because she wanted to go out on the town with her friend. Also, when Kristen Wiig made the Taylor-Surprised-Face. That killed me.

I'm Right on Top of that, Rose

@Slutface Watching her lose when she's so used to winning and being celebrated for being Taylor Swift was akin to watching a 5-year-old kid try to do some cutesie toddler speak expecting cooing and adoration in reply and instead he gets told to act like a big boy.

@I'm Right on Top of that, Rose

So, I have no bones in this discush either way - I have distinct feelings of apathy regarding both Adele and Taylor Swift - but I have to say that I was really pleasantly surprised by Taylor Swift's philanthropy. According to Wikipedia, she has given a lot of money to causes from arts education to child literacy. From what I read about her, she seems like a pretty decent human being, so I'm willing to forgive her a little bitchface now and then.

(Also, I just now looked at what the media is terming her "bitchface" and....eh? That doesn't look like bitchface to me. Could it be that the media are trying to create a "cat fight" that doesn't actually exist? I am shocked, *SHOCKED*....)

I'm Right on Top of that, Rose

@wee_ramekin Wait, you have feelings of apathy about Adele? How? She's great. And the only reason I'm enjoying the sass from TSwift is because she won a bazillion awards for like three years and reacted the same way - mouth agape, "Oh my god, I can't believe you guys like me! Again!" - and it was obnoxious. But yeah, we're all allowed some bitchface. I had some this morning when a car didn't stop in time at a stop sign and slid through part of the intersection while I was walking to work.

Y'all, this has been my gchat status all day, and it's making me SO happy.

@anachronistique As my friend Jen Chaney (@chaneyj) said: "Lena Dunham wins the Golden Globe but Amy Poehler also wins because she's in Clooney's lap."

Sophia Vergara's dress reminds me of Ursula from the Little Mermaid. And Michelle Dockery's dress is lovely and refined, even though I still hate Lady Mary.

Also, Denzel went with his daughter?? Either he looks super young or she looks quite mature, because I just assumed wife...

An interesting discussion is worth comment. I think that you should write more on this topic, it might not be a taboo subject but generally people are not enough to speak on such topics. To the next. Cheers madeira palsticaLV

Interesting. I would agree that focusing on growth vs cost control during the early stages of a business is ideal, however, there will be a point when that shifts.
