Happy Banaversary

Happy 15th Anniversary to former sketch comic Eric Bana and Rebecca Gleeson – I think? I Googled their anniversary for a whole day a few months ago and found one or two references to this date so I set an alarm in my phone to remind me of when it was. It happens to be one week before his birthday as well, which is FOR SURE August 9. So he probably celebrated his birthday on their honeymoon, which is sweet. Happy early birthday, Eric! The 6' 2 ½" actor will be 44. What else can we say about Eric Bana? Everything?

Thank goodness he grew out of that phase.

carolinaclay

I never knew Eric bana did stand up for shows like this I love this too funny@y

New Hoarder

God, he turned me on in Munich. Is that wrong?

New Hoarder

@New Hoarder And in Black Hawk Down. Especially in Black Hawk Down. Bad-asss linguist. Why is he so sexy in such depressing films? Stop being inappropriately hot, Eric Bana!

New Hoarder

@New Hoarder Ugh, he was also hot (but a total douche) in Funny People. Also a depressing film.

laurel

@New Hoarder: Chopper is a very confusing movie in that regard.

nicolarz

@New Hoarder If that's wrong, I don't want to be right. He was also such a dilf in Hanna.

New Hoarder

@nicolarz Oh God. The gray hairs. So so hott as older librarian guy rather than young caddish librarian guy in The Time Traveler's Wife.

Emma K@twitter

@New Hoarder You're not wrong for thinking he's hot in Munich, or at least you're not alone. I wish someone would make a cut of that film that's just him looking hot (with no bad stuff/violence), so I could revisit him in that role without having to watch the whole film again.

New Hoarder

@Emma K@twitter Sounds like a well-deserving project. Even gaunt and worried about his family maybe being retaliated-murdered he was so beautiful.

Just a montage of him sitting on the edge of a bed, running his hands through his hair worriedly. Bam. Finito.

queenieliz

@New Hoarder I watched "Love the Beast", a documentary about Eric Bana's car. Because Eric Bana is hot. There ain't nothing wrong about that.

queenieliz

@laurel But omygod he was sooo good in that! I love that movie because he looks to be having such a great time playing the role.
@New Hoarder and @Emma K2twitter only if your supercut also includes all of Daniel Craig's scenes as well...

TARDIStime

@New Hoarder
100% agreed on this! I'm 21 - I should not find him so hot like that!
Also I worry because all Aussie Celeb males in their early 30's are like kryptonite to me - Rove McManus, Charlie Pickering, Wil Anderson (but not Adam Hills, oddly... I love him in a platonic way), etc.

New Hoarder

@queenieliz Yes. That movie was much too hot for its own good. I was all, "Spielberg, where are the waify, teary-eyed orphans? You never cast Hot Men in your Serious Films!"

New Hoarder

@queenieliz Questions before I Netflix/ whatever this? a) Is he ever shirtless? b) Does he laugh a lot? c) Does he anthropomorphize his car at all, cooing to it? I will watch for any of those, but of course especially a).

queenieliz

@New Hoarder haha! a) I don't believe so. b)probably a bit, but it's a bit "serious car guy movie" c) no, but he waxes poetic about it (he's owned the same Ford Falcon since he was a teenager and he races it! It's exciting!) Be warned there is a lot of Jay Leno and Jeremy Clarkson, so it's not just Bana hotness...but if you like gearhead guys it's a definite watch.

New Hoarder

Okay, I am just going to continue on with this thread like nobody's watching. I Tivo-ed The Nugget from IFC a couple of months ago (I think it's from 2002), which is a weirdo Australian comedy about friends who find gold, blah blah blah gangsters, hilarity ensues, etc. Eric Bana is the hot one, of course, though I don't this is specifically mentioned. He is nice to his wife and has a cute kid. He is not as hot when he is not broody and/ or a bastard, though.

New Hoarder

@New Hoarder ALSO, I bought this Australian movie The Castle (from the late '90s, or so, I think) because it's a) awesome) and b) Eric Bana is still in his chunky, slapstick Aussie guy phase. Ch-ch-check it out, y'all! Only sorta hot in that one.

TARDIStime

@New Hoarder
More nerdy than hot. But the Castle is ohmygod the biggest classic ever. Seriously, "How's the serenity?" is totally a part of my holiday vernacular. <3 You Michael Caton!

New Hoarder

@TARDIStime I'll still take nerdy Bana hot over pretty much any other hot any day!

(Note: not a coincidence that my husband resembles him a bit and I met him- IN AUSTRALIA- during the height of my Bana love!)

New Hoarder

I ♥ Eric Bana.

iceberg

Poida!

This is a textbook bogan character you guys.

TARDIStime

@iceberg
See also: Paul Hogan.

sarah girl

I love Eric Bana, but damn did he chew some scenery in the most recent Star Trek movie!

New Hoarder

@Sarah H. Still, hottest Romulan ever!

TARDIStime

@Sarah H. "Chew some scenery?" Is this like, a euphemism for oral sex?

sarah girl

@TARDIStime Haha! No, it's a weird phrase that means he was overacting.

fondue with cheddar

HE DESTROYS ME WHEN HE HAS A BEARD OKAY BYE

New Hoarder

@jen325 Oh YES! TROY! This was the movie where I really fell hard for him (and, incidentally, for Rose Byrne). That movie literally hurt (my back) to sit through, especially having to watch/ hear a certain blondina's "Greek" accent waver in and out, but good God was he magnificent as Hector. Lucky lucky Saffron Burrows (I'm sure she didn't think so)!

fondue with cheddar

@New Hoarder Yeah, it was really hard to figure out who to look at when they had scenes together. Yummy.

MeghanElizabeth

Regular Eric Bana feature please. Anyone still on livejournal? I wonder if that Eric Bana group still posts regular updates/photos.

Jane Marie

@MeghanElizabeth The Banapin.

New Hoarder

@Jane Marie Banapin Tumblr? More Banapix!!!

sarah girl

@MeghanElizabeth OH how I miss LJ and its celebrity update/photo groups.
