Drinks for Hot Days, Like This One

"Water. Oh wait, we're talking alcohol?! Rosé, or ice cold Miller High Life in the tiny, tiny bottles. Bottling a Negroni and drinking it in a park. A few years back I drank a pint of vodka and soda on a rooftop in 90 degree heat and it was great. Yeah, I said it. Take that, classic cocktail nerds!"
—Bartenders share their favorite warm-weather beverages. So you've decided to drink more Negronis...

Emby

Whiskey + ginger + ice. Not on these fancy-pants bartenders' list, but whatever, that will put your a smile on your face and your soul in an igloo.

cosmia

@Emby Do you use whiskey rocks?!

TheDangQuesadilluh

@cosmia i don't like them in mixed drinks, and mine seem to be disintegrating. maybe from overuse? i like regular ice with cocktails.

Emby

@cosmia I don't, but that's because I prefer to add a splash of water to my whiskey, anyway, and regular ice serves a similar purpose.

Bittersweet

@Emby Change it to bourbon for me, and you're on.

Emby

@Bittersweet See! Here's my thing. If I'm drinking it straight up, it's bourbon all the way for me. But in any kind of mixed drink (except manhattans), I go with whiskey because I feel it's a waste of bourbon. But that's just me. My palate isn't quite sophisticated enough.

whizz_dumb

@Bittersweet @Emby I thought that bourbon is whiskey, just like rye and scotch are types of whiskeys. As long a grain is fermented, it's distilled, and aged in wooden barrels you got yourself some sort of whiskey.

whizz_dumb

For refreshing and strong I like to start with 4 ice cubes, fill glass 2/3 rye whiskey, 3 shakes of Angostura bitters, orange peel (maybe squeeze some lime in if you feel like it), top off with ginger ale or Squirt.

Emby

@whizz_dumb Let me rephrase. I feel like bourbon's deeper, sweeter notes get covered up in most mixed drinks.

milenakent

Kool Aid + Coffee Maker = Hot Kool-Aid. "DRINK IT!!"@n

cosmia

I can't for the life of me drink Negronis. Campari is so gross! I've tried in like four different drinks and I can't do it! I basically work for a company that does online marketing for a bunch of alcohol companies, so I get paid to think about whisky and tequila and vodka constantly.

Last week I had an Aviation, though. It was $14. I forgot about that really fast because it was 3 ounces of alcohol and also the best thing I've ever drank.

Daisy Razor

@cosmia Aviations are The. Best. I did a little dance yesterday when I discovered that the bar I'm going to on Friday has them on their menu.

mynamebackwards

@cosmia I also dislike negronis, but have you ever had an aperol spritz? aperol is campari-adjacent, but SO MUCH MORE PHENOMENAL.

nowwhat

@mynamebackwards Aperol is so good... it also proved to be my gateway drug to the Campari spritz.

the roughest toughest frail

@cosmia Oh, Aviations are incredible. Any bar that serves them is automatically my new favourite bar.

parallel-lines

@cosmia I know, it's just so gross. I went to a Campari sponsored party once and literally tried one of everything and left stone cold sober. I was pissed!

cosmia

@mynamebackwards I have! I LOVE APEROL. For some reason I have so much of it, I think because people keep buying it for my parents and they hate it so they give it to me? I put it in whisky, which most people think is weird but whatever.

mynamebackwards

@cosmia aperol and whiskey? SIGN ME UP!

MailerMattDaemon

@cosmia For my birthday last year, we made a drink called the "Rosemary, Baby!" and it is as follows:
Stick 3-4 sprigs of rosemary in a bottle of Aperol for a few hours, make a honey-based simple syrup using honey instead of sugar, mix together 18 oz of the infused Aperol with 9 oz whiskey or bourbon, 6 oz honey syrup, some seltzer and sparkling white wine. The result couldn't be delicious-er!

Beatrix Kiddo

@MailerMattDaemon The Rosemary, Baby! sounds amazing.

the angry little raincloud

@cosmia @mynameisbackwards Hooray, more Campari for me, then! I like my booze bitter like my soul.

Negroni Season? Bring. It. On.

Rock and Roll Ken Doll

If anyone has any Campari sitting around that they don't want, @the angry little raincloud and I will be glad to take it off your hands!

the angry little raincloud

@josiahg Extremely gladly.

Alixana

@josiahg How convenient for all of us!

propermake

@cosmia have you tried a negroni sbagliato? it replaces the gin with white wine and is a little lighter. personally i love campari but you could try this to take off a little of the taste.

hotdog

You know, I'll always love a good vodka soda with lime. Nothing fancy, tastes refreshing. I'm sticking up for my favorite simple going-out drink!

Harriet Welch

@hotdog
Hahaha I asked for a vodka sprite and lime at an Applebee's. The 19 year old waitress kept asking me what's it was called. Like she didn't understand the concept of calls. Then she told me sprite already had lime in it because it was lemon lime soda. I told her I was worried about scurvy. That was the first thing she didn't stupidly question. Wtf?
That drink will always remind me of the ditzy waitress who repeated the drink to me at least 4 times and the boy who thought it was ok to go get drinks at Applebee's.

meetapossum

@hotdog I like them with lemon AND lime to create a sugar-less Sprite.

laurel

Women laughing alone with Negronis.

@serenityfound

I discovered a great summer cocktail: 1.5oz gin, .5oz limoncello, .5oz lime juice. You're supposed to muddle some grilled thyme in there, but I usually just go for the booze.

cosmia

@@serenityfound Gin with lemon and/or lime is the best and requires zero real work but still makes you feel fancy.

Amphora

@@serenityfound Why would you grill thyme? A light breeze and poof! up in smoke.

@serenityfound

@@serenityfound It is...tricky. But I think grilling the thyme was the excuse to put the drink in the grilling magazine I found the recipe in.

Charlsie Kate

I ordered a high life at the bar Saturday night and they served it to me in a champagne flute. It took my breath away. In other news, the high life grenades are fantastic and I wish I was drinking one right now.

Punk-assBookJockey

@Charlsie Kate It is the champagne of beers!

redheaded&crazy

Sangria is my favourite summer drink of decadence. mmmmmMM sangria! Summer is also the only time of year I buy things like mike's hard lemonade (which tastes like soap) or other "girly drinks"

cosmia

@redheaded&crazie Sangria! More 'Pinups involving sangria tbh.

olivebee

@redheaded&crazie I, too, love sangria. Except for one time at this Mexican restaurant where the sangria definitely had pepper in it. Not, like, black pepper, but pepper of the green or red variety. It tasted like salsa-flavored sangria. I hate salsa. And peppers. BLECH.

Banana dance

@redheaded&crazie ohhhh! Sangria!!! Make it all sugary and strong and watch your inlaws start dancing and telling you to go make grandbabies

phlox

@cosmia Let's do it!

jelama

@olivebee I love peppers, but peppers in sangria is a sacrilege.

Knowsey

@redheaded&crazie I have discovered (invented?) fake sangria. Wine, preferably from a box, dash of OJ, dash of cherry limeade sparkling water (thanks Target). It's lovely and fast and makes me feel fancy even though I'm drinking wine from a box.

redheaded&crazy

@Knowsey I am going to try this! Sounds delish. my friends and i call 'em fauxgria recipes :D

OhMarie

@Knowsey A friend of mine makes fake sangria with wine and Fresca. That's it. I wouldn't call it good exactly, but it's kind of refreshing?

werewolfbarmitzvah

Get a bottle of Honest Tea, any flavor (or, I guess, just make your own very lightly sweetened iced tea?), take a couple of big gulps, and fill the rest of the bottle with vodka. The lightest, smoothest summer drink, if not particularly complicated.

flanhoodles

@werewolfbarmitzvah I do that with the Santa Cruz lemonades!

charlesbois

I've been experimenting like crazy with drinks this summer and two of the best I've come up with (and have posted about before) are:

alcoholic strawberry ice cubes floated in moscato (I call it an italian buzz bomb)

and

applejack, ginger ale, a squeeze of lime and then burst a black cherry over it so it looks like blood swirling in the drink (I call it the black-hearted sue)

charlesbois

@charlesbois Oh i thought of one more: mandarin orange vodka (I like 360 or hangar 1 brands) with tonic water with lime. Citrus-y cooler.

Yahtzii

Not even a single mention of Qream? Is it because you'd be like Ron Burgundy in the phone booth/glass cage of emotion? "Qream was a poor choice."

leonstj

How is there no love for the Dark & Stormy? My go-to hot day rooftop bar drink.

Lucienne

@leon.saintjean I started making these for my family lately (with Domaine de Canton added) and I think they've never loved me more, honestly.

Lily Rowan

@leon.saintjean Last summer I was all about Dark & Stormys, but then they got too sugary somehow.

leonstj

@Lucienne - you know what makes them the best? also very, very useful for mojitos?

cane sugar swizzle sticks! they're amazing. you can get them like, 20 for $12 on Amazon, and they're phenomenal.

Pegu Club has maybe the best D&S in nyc. Also, if you like mojitos, I'd also recommend Cuba Restaurant in NYC (the small plates are good, but the full entrees are kind of mediocre).

batgirl

@leon.saintjean Or a moscow mule. Yum!

Brunhilde

@leon.saintjean The Dark & Stormy is only good if you use good strong ginger beer, and all the crappy dives I go to just use Canada Dry from the gun, or "bartender's ginger ale" (sprite + splash of coke + bitters).

Bittersweet

@Lily Rowan You need to use really strong ginger beer, as Brunhilde says. Gosling's makes my favorite. I've been making my dark 'n' stormies with bourbon and an entire half-life the last couple of weeks, and they are AWESOME, and in no way too sweet.

Lily Rowan

@Bittersweet Oh absolutely, and I don't even mean too sweet -- it's literally the sugar. Even when it's super hot and gingery, a whole soda is sometimes too much for me. Because I am a delicate Diet Coke princess!

shawbaby

@leon.saintjean ESPECIALLY when served in one of those copper mugs that stays cold for DAYS somehow. Perfect for patio drinking.

OhMarie

@Bittersweet Yay, this is also my favorite Goslings Dark Rum plus Goslings Diet Ginger Beer plus sooooo much lime.

tootsky

@OhMarie I love Dark & Stormies and was so happy our liquor barn finally started carrying Goslings ginger beer (but not diet?! if I could get diet, like Lily Rowan up there, my life would be complete.) Because honestly, I like a good English-y ginger beer, and the caribbean ones are usually too soapy tasting. I am still hoarding the 140 proof Black Seal I got on my cruise to Bermuda, to be indulged in on particularly crappy days only.

Bittersweet

@tootsky I appreciate people's need for diet sodas, and actually there is diet Gosling's (at least at my local grocery store), but honestly, diet dark 'n' stormies just feel like a sin against nature.

OhMarie

@tootsky Oh the diet is great! Personally, I feel like all I need is the crazy ginger kick. Sugar is unnecessary. I have also seen Diet Goslings Ginger Beer at one specific grocery store near me (kind of on the fancy end of normal grocery stores--here it's Giant).

Brunhilde

@Bittersweet Yeah, especially when you're mixing diet soda with a type of booze that is MADE from sugarcane.

Lily Rowan

@Brunhilde I know, I know! But diet Gosling's sounds like heaven to me.

tootsky

@Brunhilde Yes, but the alcohol sugars don't count! That's the beauty of it. I hate diet ginger ale, so I'd have to see about the diet goslings, but I really do limit my dark & stormies because of the sugar.

Lily Rowan

BTdubs, I found a leftover Reed's in my fridge, so I am having a Dark and Stormy right now!

Harriet Welch

This sounded super yuck, but is refreshing and hangover banishing
Three olives grape vodka and sprite
Also, just tasted rootbeer vodka and ginger ale. Delicious!
Usually I just drink whiskey...no matter what the weather. It's always the right temperature for whiskey.

Ughhhh languishing in a Philly hotel with no spare money for booze. Such a sad post/comments section to read.

laurel

@Harriet Welch: "Three olives grape vodka" is confusing.

Harriet Welch

@Harriet Welch
Woops! That is confusing. Three Olives is the brand, grape is the flavor. I only suggest the brand because I find most other flavored vodkas to be gross.

hulia

@Harriet Welch The various cherry-flavored vodkas that are out right now are damn tasty with just soda and a slice of lemon. They also contributed to at least 40% of my hangovers for the month of July, though, so buyer beware.

cosmia

@Harriet Welch Yes! Three Olives is the only flavoured vodka that is not disgusting. I hear they have a cotton candy flavour that I am simultaneously horrified and entranced by.

Verity

*looks out at rain* Why must you mock us with your hot-weather drinks?

Yahtzii

@Verity It hardly ever moves out of the 60's where I live. I could be jealous of others' hot weather, but instead I choose to be smug.

Banana dance

@cosmia when I moved, I left the bottle of campari.
It is vile.

Banana dance

@Banana dance I just want the beer. Fat tire? Mothership? Or a local craft brewery (it's growler season mofo).

@Banana dance I will drink your campari. I love that shit and will drink it straight. I have filled my flask with it. Sooo good.

Banana dance

@S. Elizabeth ah! I totally would have passed it on to some one who liked it! Now I feel like I dumped a kitten.

karencarrot

@Banana dance Beer beer beer, beer beer beer. I don't drink cocktails, especially not in summer. Give me an IPA or two or three, fill that growler, or have some cheap cans of fizzy yellow beer. If I ever drink liquor, it's gonna be bourbon!

aphrabean

Tinto de verano! Just the best.

lisma

Dark rum, Orangina, lime, mint. On the rocks. Or hell, just beer.

TOO BAD it is sofa king cold here, though.

phlox

@ginalouise That sounds awesome.

Megasus

True story: when I came home yesterday I took the elevator up with two guys who each was carrying a two four.

parallel-lines

Make a shandy! Make another one and bring it to me!

noodge

@parallel-lines mmm, last philly pinup was at a beer garden, and shandies were the order of the day... d'lish.

Girl Named Jack

Pimm's Cup! You don't really really need the cucumber, if that's what's stopping you. Also: Pimm's is surprisingly tasty in iced tea.

Nicole Cliffe

@Girl Named Jack I love Pimm's Cups! Mostly, I'm a G&T person, like werewolfbarmitzvah, but on the right day...

meetapossum

@Girl Named Jack I JUST had the tastiest Pimm's Cup ever yesterday. It had cucumber AND mint in it, and it was the perfect drink for a hot summer day.

iknowright

@Girl Named Jack I make Pimm's Cups with Santa Cruz brand Mango Lemonade and crushed mint. I stole and adapted the idea from a local fancy bar, and it's sooo easy to make, and insanely refreshing. I have to admit I have never gone the cucumber route...

dale

@Girl Named Jack I suggest a Pimm's Pinup! And we can all dress up fancy like we're going to Ascot.

werewolfbarmitzvah

And really, 9 times out of 10, I'm happy as a clam with a gin and tonic.

mynamebackwards

red wine and ginger ale over ice. this is what italian kids (or at least me and my cousins) drink at huge backyard parties while the adults are too busy dancing/cutting the polenta. whenever I want to feel like a buzzed 10 year old again (every day) this is what I drink.

batgirl

Has anyone tried the Cool Lime Refresher from Starbucks? Because I'm just sitting here at my desk sipping one, thinking about how good it would taste with vodka added to it...

tootsky

@batgirl - So funny I had the Hibiscus one and was thinking how if it just had a little vodka, it'd be perfect. I bet the lime one would be good with tequila!

atipofthehat

Kriek lambic forever!

madge

@atipofthehat in pittsburgh (and maybe other places?) they do a drink called a red ho, which is hoegaarden with a bit of cherry lambic in. it is really fucking refreshing.

atipofthehat

Wouldn't these questions best be settled at a Pin-up? Say, tomorrow afternoon in NYC?

redheaded&crazy

@atipofthehat see ya there!

atipofthehat

@redheaded&crazie

Are you really in NYC?!

redheaded&crazy

@atipofthehat only in my wildest fantasies and dreams :'(

@serenityfound

I forgot about iced tea vodka and lemonade, which I was all about last year. Holy smokes, were those good...

null

I visited Iowa for the first time last week and drank so many Arnold Palmers, now I'm mad at myself for not thinking to add vodka.

@serenityfound

@klaus Drunken Palmers...Drunken Palmers are so tasty. I'm usually not crazy about flavoured vodkas, but the iced tea one is so yummy.

tootsky

@@serenityfound Sweet Tea Vodka and lemonade was our drink all last summer. BUT it's not a drunken Arnold Palmer. It's a John Daly!

@serenityfound

@tootsky That's great/awful. I've just gone with Drunken Palmers because it's what my cousin who introduced it to me (and the bars in Sacramento) called them.

katiemcgillicuddy

Vodka club, so much fresh lime juice. Basically if it isn't gin, I love it. GET OUT OF HERE, GIN.

cosmia

@katiemcgillicuddy This makes me sad, because I LOVE GIN. Any time I've gotten drunk off vodka in the past three years I've gotten terrible hangovers and/or thrown up, but if I get drunk off gin or wine or whiskey I'm just silly and in love with everyone all night.

katiemcgillicuddy

@cosmia Gin kills me. Can't stand the taste, its like eating a car freshener, or something else that makes more sense. However, if I had to pick one thing to drink the rest of my life it would be whiskey, all the whiskey, so we have that.

meetapossum

@katiemcgillicuddy It's like drinking Christmas trees.

katiemcgillicuddy

@meetapossum Exactly. Also, when I read your comment I immediately imagined a totally shitfaced Christmas tree, stumbling around drunk during Christmas dinner, clutching a bottle and saying inappropriate things to the rest of his Christmas tree family.

cosmia

@katiemcgillicuddy It is totally like drinking car freshener, or pine trees, but I think I like it so much because it's so weird? I can only mix it with things that compliment/ease the taste, like lemon or lime or some other fruity-but-not-fake-fruity thing. I HATE gin and tonics. Tonic water tastes even weirder than gin to me.

katiemcgillicuddy

@cosmia Yeah, tonic water sucks, it has to be seltzer or club, which I think are basically the same. I also had a bad experience the last time I drank gin, which, for some idiotic reason was on Cinco de Mayo about 7 years ago (I also drank a looooot of tequilla). I stumbled back to my house after bailing on my friends (one of whom was having a meltdown over a lost earring) with some boy and then I proceeded to break into my own house through the back window, managing to knock over and subsequently turn on the dustbuster in the wall as I tumbled in, even though the door was unlocked and my roommates (very entertained roommates) were home, in the living room. I ended up passed out with my head laying on a toilet seat. Basically, a rousing success. Gin.

the angry little raincloud

@katiemcgillicuddy Oh. Crap. I thumbs-upped you because I misread, thinking, yay! Another gin lover. I wouldn't thumbs-down you, because that it not nice, but I love gin! None of this crap talk about gin, please. It is a noble and refreshing booze that kept much of the British Empire sauced for centuries. I love tonic water, too. I mean, I need something to protect me against malaria... Of course, mix gin and campari and, well, perfection.

katiemcgillicuddy

@the angry little raincloud Don't worry, I thumbs-upped your comment to restore balance in the universe. We can respectfully disagree and you can continue drinking gin in honor or Britain and I in turn shall swill whiskey in honor of Ireland.

the angry little raincloud

@katiemcgillicuddy Why can't Congress get together like us gin & whiskey drinkers? Geesh. It's not so hard.

And, I totally just realized your name is McGillicuddy. Perhaps that is your real name, perhaps not, but perhaps there is some deep genetic aversion to all things Imperial? Not that I'm an imperialist, or British, or anything. I just really freaking like gin. Um, freedom for everyone! Yay!

Anyway. Yay for people getting along! Now let's get ourselves over to the Middle East and straighten things out.

the angry little raincloud

@katiemcgillicuddy And, also, are you related to the doctor? Dr McGillicuddy, purveyor of fine mint schnaps and the like? (That's for a different season. I'll happily dump that stuff into my hot chocolate in the wintertime. Yum.)

katiemcgillicuddy

@the angry little raincloud I know right? Oy, Congress, always with the drama.

Not related to the doctor, but I can get down with some mint schnapps. It's from a nickname when I was a kid, as in Lucy Ricardo nee McGillicuddy.

cuminafterall

Over ice: a shot of gin, half a shot of creme de cassis, add soda water to your liking. It tastes like flowers.

SarahP

@cuminafterall That sounds lovely!

singstrix

@cuminafterall That DOES sound good. Time to add more interesting liqueurs to my collection..

cosmia

@cuminafterall I had this yesterday! It's basically a gin bramble, yes?

cuminafterall

@cosmia It has a name? Excellent! I was calling it a "Kir Royale but with gin and soda and ice instead of champagne." "Gin bramble" is much snappier.

cosmia

@cuminafterall I just googled and a gin bramble is the exact same thing except you add half a shot of lime juice!

Beatrix Kiddo

@cosmia No! A bramble is with blackberries or blackberry liqueur! I mean, I'm sure it's equally good with cassis, but not the same thing.

tootsky

@cuminafterall Oooo, that sounds SO good.

(I LOVE the Hairpin cocktail threads!)

singstrix

- Caipirinha, if you have a bar that will do it up right. So much muddled lime!

- Bees Knees, because gin is always one of the right answers (gin, honey, lemon juice)

But mostly, chez Singstrix is all about gingria. THAT IS RIGHT, GIN SANGRIA. Gin, muddled fruits of your choice (for best results, muddle with confectioner's sugar to make a fruity syrup), seltzer, lemon juice, other juice if you must. IN A PITCHER.

hulia

@singstrix Bees knees!! Best drink ever. Although I tend to drink it more in winter, for whatever reason.

singstrix

@hulia I had one at a brunch in May. It was served with cracked black pepper on top. So good. (All winter Mr. Singstrix and I make mulled wine every time we're at my parents' house. .. or at our place, really.)

Banana dance

@singstrix gingria.... You just opened a new world for me.

panquecito

@singstrix Oh my god. OH. MY. GOD. Gingria is... it's such a good idea. I am speechless.

@serenityfound

@singstrix I have never heard of this Bees Knees before but I have all of those ingredients at home! But mixing honey into a cold drink? Doesn't it get all lumpy on the bottom?

hulia

@@serenityfound It's a honey syrup -- honey mixed with hot water and stirred to dilute it. You can do 1:1 or 2:1 honey:water, depending on how sweet you want the final product.

@serenityfound

@hulia Grazie! I figured it was something like that.

singstrix

@@serenityfound @hulia Yeah, I think this may have been the first article I saw about it -- they recommend making a 2:1 honey syrup, BUT I've also had good results heating the honey w/ the lemon juice until just melted. I figured I was shaking it with ice anyway, so..

darklingplain

I like to drink chai iced tea with sweetened condensed milk in it. The other day I added rum--delicious. The same effect could probably be achieved with an iced chai latte + rum.

cosmia

@darklingplain I added iced chai tea to whiskey a few weeks ago! I also put a stick of cinnamon in it and some apple juice. Holy god it was so good.

cuminafterall

@darklingplain I have been trying to figure out what you would use to spike horchata, and you have given me the answer! RUM.

darklingplain

@cosmia Ooh, I bet my tea would have been great with whiskey.

@cuminafterall I had never heard of horchata before, but now I want some. With rum.

Amphora

@cuminafterall Horchata with rum! This whole thread is making me feel bad about skipping the liquor store today.

singstrix

Also, I recall seeing a Hendricks Basil Smash on a drink menu once. I've been coveting one ever since.

Does Axl have a jack?

@singstrix I had something very similar at Whym in NYC earlier this summer, and it was truly glorious. It tasted like the color green, in a good way.

mackymoo

Not quite height of summer drink, but I just made lavender honey simply syrup to put in my whiskey on the rocks and it is soooo goooood. Makes me feel like a fancy lady in an English garden (plus whiskey).

noodge

When I lived in San Diego County, after spending the morning at the beach, I used to stop by a little Mexican market that had a special "agua fresca" stand there on Saturdays. Take one plastic take-out container of honeydew agua fresca, add vodka and ice liberally - mmmmm, tasty summer afternoon drink.

Knowsey

@redheaded&crazie I have discovered (invented?) fake sangria. Wine, preferably from a box, dash of OJ, dash of cherry limeade sparkling water (thanks Target). It's lovely and fast and makes me feel fancy even though I'm drinking wine from a box.

cosmia

@Knowsey Wait, not everyone makes their sangria like this? Honestly, in Spain sangria is apparently a cheap drink made with the shit wine and almost-overripe fruit that bars want to get rid of that college students drink, so fuck with it as much as you want, I say.

crookedlegs

I made prosecco cocktails for a friend's birthday the other (insanely hot) night - chilled prosecco, frozen raspberries and a couple of spoons of lemon simple syrup - sooooo bubbly and delicious

frigwiggin

I have never and will never drink (was going to fix the grammar there but fuck it), but I do so enjoy reading about other people's alcohol choices. It's fascinating in the same way makeup is fascinating, especially how people get excited about their favorites! So basically I'm saying the same thing that I said a month or two ago in the mascara article comments: though I am not a part of this group, I don't feel left out! And that's why I enjoy The Hairpin.

contrary

Hendrick's gin, St. Germaine, soda water, splash of pineapple juice. GET IN MY MOUTH. I'm too broke for St. Germaine right now and I don't live near an IKEA to by elderflower syrup, but a girl can dream/have BBQ's and request people bring that, maybe.

Punk-assBookJockey

@contrary I was just at IKEA last weekend and I had one of those box elderflower drinks, and I thought "Hmm... this needs gin." Especially Hendrick's. So good. And with the pineapple that sounds amazing!
