ts very cool, but I wish that the music actually meshed with the video footage (especially obvious with the timpani).

But I'm just a cranky music geek.

That was a lovely video

sudden but inevitable betrayal

Best flash mob ever! EVER!

Ah, that song makes me think about my dad (so many dads in the crowd!). He knows all the words and would sing it constantly when I was growing up - probably still does but I live elsewhere and don't hear it. Oops, it's raining on my face!

liverwortlaura

@sudden but inevitable betrayal ummm, can i adopt your dad? i want a beethoven-singing dad!

MoxyCrimeFighter

Man, I don't know why, but flash mobs make me cry, every time. /feelings

liverwortlaura

@MoxyCrimeFighter ME TOO

temporal_paradox

@MoxyCrimeFighter Me too!

LinaLamont

@MoxyCrimeFighter me three!

EternalFootwoman

@MoxyCrimeFighter Ooooh, me too. They put me in such a good mood.

wee_ramekin

@MoxyCrimeFighter For me it is because...look at these amazing things that people can do when they work together, and why don't we have more of this and less of the killing and the hating? *sobs*

DandelionTacy

@MoxyCrimeFighter I came here to post the exact same thing, I've been weeping into a dishtowel for the past 5 minutes. The Sound of Music one in the train station makes me ugly-cry.
@wee_ramekin, I think that has to be the reason.

liverwortlaura

@wee_ramekin YES. Rewatching this from home now, and I am a complete mess. I can't believe the entire audience is not weeping!?

EternalFootwoman

@DandelionTacy O God, the Sound of Music flashmob is my favorite. I may have to go rewatch it, but I know I will be a mess.

Xanthophyllippa

@DandelionTacy The Sound of Music one makes me cry so hard I snot all over. Related: I cry when I hear bagpipes.

MoxyCrimeFighter

Well, I must say, I feel so much better about my complete inability to keep my shit together in the face of a flashmob! As someone who isn't generally an actual tears-down-my-face crier, I always thought I was a freak haha.

@DandelionTacy The Sound of Music one makes me ugly-cry, too! Man oh man...Julie Andrews! Dancing! Train stations! ALL THE FEELINGS.

@wee_ramekin You're totally right, I just didn't want to sound like a lamewad for saying it. The best flashmobs, it's just about people working together to make something beautiful and ephemeral and everyone has so much fun and the audience is always so delighted and here I go againnnn ::snork::

Ojo
Ojo

@MoxyCrimeFighter Came here to ask if anyone else got teary-eyed watching this, now I feel much better!

EternalFootwoman

@Xanthophyllippa Bagpipes and "Taps".

Killerpants

@MoxyCrimeFighter Geeeez criminy, me too. I was choking back mini-sobs. Why so emotional? I do not know.

liverwortlaura

@EternalFootwoman also, marching bands???

alannaofdoom

Just want to put it out there: from now on, flash mob orchestra is the only flash mob I will accept.

possiblepodbot

so do i. "everyone is working together and making something pretty and happy!" *weep*

ixchel

@possiblepodbot And not just that, but "everyone else sees the pretty and happy and drops everything to be transfixed by it!"

sparrow303

The timpanis are what really sell it.

Esther C. Werdiger

Whoops, just cried.

#humanafterall

Esther C. Werdiger

But I mean, can't we just call this a Surprise Orchestra?
And finally, ODE TO JOY, FUCK YEAH.

liverwortlaura

@Esther C. Werdiger beethoven ftw

wee_ramekin

OH MY GOD WHY AM I CRYING?!?!

HeyThatsMyBike

@wee_ramekin I am so glad I wasn't the only one!

Bittersweet

@wee_ramekin It's the Ode to Joy, it's secretly programmed that way.

okaycrochet

...it's a bank commercial.

IM SORRY IM SORRY OH GOD IM SO SORRY

liverwortlaura

@okaycrochet would that our banks would make the plebes weep with joy...

Megasus

Is it still a flash mob if it's not dancing?
Also: pretty sure I climbed all over that church in Assassin's Creed. I am pretty sure I can't go anywhere in any of those games now because I will just run around town pointing at things and yelling "CLIMBED IT!"

redheaded&crazy

@Megano! i kept waiting for dancing to bust out!

Chloe Lum@facebook

I feel really weird having cried to a bank ad.

Brunhilde

Is anyone else getting computer virus alerts from some of the Hairpin stories lately? The first time I opened this page my virus software had a conniption.

Regina Phalange

Flash mobs are really touching, and a beautiful reminder of humanity's collective nature, etc. I'm only a little embarrassed that I spend most of them picking out the cute boys (hola, amarillo, how you doin'?)

Xanthophyllippa

I stopped happy-crying long enough to offer silent, mad props to the bassoonist, because that is a seriously hard instrument to play standing up.

Killerpants

@Xanthophyllippa I was just going to talk about the bassoonist! It is by far the bossest instrument. She owned it.

liverwortlaura

@Killerpants yes!

flash mob

Wow.! Amazing.! I don't think they call it's flash mob but this's "flash mob" has been better than any clips of flash mob I had seen.! Thank.! Beside that they have some funny "flash mob" like this one : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wz_PeVlgCcc :p

Another excellent example of innovation, I am happy to find it. There are so several developers working on this segment but this is one of the best innovative idea ever. Thanks for sharing it here. debt help

A guide that can be used to understand what has been expressed by Chomsky is useful. You can understand more about the theory expressed. window tinting Houston
