Conceived in 1940s England?

“Using standard figures for the number of live births which result, including allowances for twins and miscarriages, I estimate that he is responsible for between 300 and 600 children.”
—A British man who ran a fertility clinic that promised women sperm from men with high IQs did so with enthusiasm.

(Okay, that's two posts in a row with links to the Telegraph, the first being about eggs, the second being about sperm, so I think this site just impregnated itself. Let's wait nine hours and see if a Tumblr comes out.)

Slutface

If The Hairpin does give birth to a tumblr, can we name it The Barrette?!

EpWs

@Slutface Eeeeeeeee!

wharrgarbl

@Slutface hahahaha yes this must happen.

lyzl@twitter

@wharrgarbl I vote YES on proposition "create baby blog named Barrette" will be a blog for our babies: "Ask a clean baby" who writes, "Hey just stop throwing your food off the highchair! Solves a lot of problems."

Slutface

@lyzl@twitter Baby girls will write to Baby Dude asking, "Is he drooling over me or is he just, you know, drooling?"

mlle.gateau

@Slutface Only if it serves tiny bottles of Qream!

lyzl@twitter

Just what we all need ANOTHER mommy blog! Get ready for the sponsored posts and the whine-fests titled "10 Things Never to Say to an XXX Mom" (says the girl who has a mom blog *hangs head in hypocritical shame*)

EpWs

@lyzl@twitter I believe it would be a baby blog? Needs non-stop tending, looks adorable in order to keep us from throwing it out a window? Articles include "Big sad eyes: how to get your way all the time, every time" and "Are we over diapers yet?"

lyzl@twitter

@The Everpresent Wordsnatcher Is that one of those blogs "written by the baby" where every post is like "Why does my mom keep changing my diaper? Parents be weird, yo! I like to eat yogurt melts. Those be the shizzzzz."

I would actually read that blog. Dammit.

puppyemissary

Let's just hope the baby website doesn't carry the "royal disease". Werewolf cells, ugh. 'Cause that's just what we need, a bunch of werewolf websites, taking over the internet...

This literally happened on Bored to Death

atipofthehat

You don't have to go to England to find serial-impregnator own-sperm fertility clinics.

wharrgarbl

@atipofthehat Yeah, this seems to happen kind of a lot for how regulated clinics are and how creepy as hell it is.

atipofthehat

@wharrgarbl

Ladies, there's no need to visit a clinic!

Simply form an orderly line outside this clean, comfortable room and a highly intelligent masked man will be right with you.

wharrgarbl

@atipofthehat If you want him to wear a luchador mask and execute complicated acrobatic combat moves prior to fulfilling the fertilization duties specified in the prior contract, you will need a rider (proforma available through office) and proof performance insurance for the duration of the luchador portion of the encounter (agency recommendations available from front desk). A $250 surcharge fee will apply and must be paid (cash, check, credit card) at time appointment is booked. Fee is non-refundable if appointment is cancelled later than 24 hours before appointment, partially refundable 48 hours before appointment, and completely refundable prior to that time (client will receive print and email copy of schedule detailing policy when appointment is made). Still photography and video recording are strictly prohibited without express, written consent of the performer (model release forms available from front desk).

atipofthehat

@wharrgarbl

Afterward, they share a Corona radiata.

staircases

He may be the most reproductively successful man on the planet. Bet Darwin didn't see that one coming.

atipofthehat

@staircases

Genghis Khan has 16,000,000 living descendants.

I guess those conquered ladies really Horde themselves out.

PistolPackinMama

@atipofthehat I don't think it was the ladies who were doing the horde-ing in this case.

stuffisthings

@atipofthehat Yeah, modern sperm donors really need to steppe up their game.

atipofthehat

@stuffisthings

You gotta have Mongol and stick to it!

stuffisthings

@atipofthehat That's the kind of khan-do attitude I'm talking about.

yamtoes

File under headlines ripped from Law & Order.

CheeseLouise

This just happened on Fringe too. Holla Fringe fans! Ourlivia 4 Eva!

stuffisthings

Surely you meant to say something like "a microblog tumbls out," no?

frigwiggin

I'm reading a really interesting anthropology book about IVF in Egypt right now! Well, not literally right now, but before bed every night. Except for last night, when I decided to start reading a Garth Nix book instead. So what if I'm only two chapters into the IVF book after borrowing it from my friend a month ago? I am too an intellectual! *sob*

frigwiggin

@frigwiggin I swear this is kind of related to the topic at hand.

CheeseLouise

@frigwiggin Don't worry, every Hairpin comment section becomes about Sabriel eventually.

Xanthophyllippa

Best. Parenthetical. EVER.

kingjames

I've heard of this and as a donor concieved child this terrifies me.
