"Is this a new pelt?"

The historical improv comedy series (wait, keep reading!) that is PERIODS. is back with a new short film, "Viking Wives." ("Being a viking is tough, being a viking wife is tougher.") If you enjoy this, I'd also recommend "Pilgrims," "Forefathers," and "Edith Wharton's Ethan Fromme." They're exactly like reading books; if you're in high school, feel free to stay home today.

"It's like, a lifestyle. And if you're in the lifestyle, then you know. And if you're not, then you don't."

@Ophelia "Yeah, you know, like, he plunders..."

They sort of did.

Katie Heaney

@Esther C. Werdiger I honestly have no idea how I haven't seen that yet.

Esther C. Werdiger

@Katie Heaney
We watched it in school! We moved the desks aside, ordered pizza and all lay on the carpet after class one day. Obviously, I went to a weird and small girls' school.

@Esther C. Werdiger

There's nothing wrong with weird, small girls.

Society shouldn't make them go to their own special school.

Esther C. Werdiger

Hey. You don't gotta tell me.

@atipofthehat True, and I don't think it's fair to keep referring to the 600 odd members of parliament that way either.

The History channel is in the process of making a scripted drama called Viking. I secretly hope it is like this.

Which Viking Wife would you be?

I know I'd be that shit disturber Undvar. Bitch does not know how to keep her mouth shut.

According to this book I had to read a long time ago, the relatively higher status Viking women were accorded by their culture carried over into the English Midlands and then in turn to the Mid-Atlantic States, which were largely settled by people from the Midlands. Which explains why those states supported the 19th Amendment and the ERA, while other states, settled by people from other parts of England, didn't! Plausible? Maybe. Brain-infectingly fun to ponder? Definitely yes!

Was it Albion's Seed? Because that is one fantastic book.

Pilgrims! How have I missed these? I feel like I just wasted 2 years not knowing how hot I could be for Ponce de Leon.

@Esther C. Werdiger Yes! The Pilgrims one was awesome!

Esther C. Werdiger

@Ophelia The best one, maybe! I also love how everyone's chewing gum. Except Ponce de Leon. He's different.

@Esther C. Werdiger "Where'd you get that potato?"

Esther C. Werdiger

@Ophelia haha, *end scene*.

Also the way he does that little sassy potato toss! PONCEEEE you baller.

Ohhhhhh boy! Oh boy oh boy! I can't wait to watch this later.

Dear Edith,

This is SO appreciated.

I am SO ready to start my day now. Thanks hairpin for always knowing exactly what I need to put me in an awesome mood!

Lee Van Queef

I just showed my boyfriend Edith Wharton's Ethan Frome last night! I think it must be my favorite. I kind of wish they would do more book adaptations.

"Like, if anything could happen, it CAN'T. HAPPEN."

Roxanne Rholes

@Woman Laughing Alone With Boas I read "Women Laughing Alone With Bears."

@Roxanne Rholes Well, they wouldn't be alone then.

Lee Van Queef

@Apocalypstick @Roxanne Rholes I'm always alone, even when I'm with bears. ((sad violin solo))

I wonder where the FOREFATHERS documentary was produced.

fondue with cheddar

@Shmarmony Dooblin, Ohio.

fondue with cheddar

@jen325 Or perhaps Tokane, Washington.

Is it wrong that I want them to hire me to help them do these shorts with them, except about Biblical scenes? This is based on nothing other than how good I am at recounting the story of Jonah while drunk. I mean, people gather round, conversations stop, people request it. I was born for this medium.

This makes me feel just as uncomfortable and embarrassed-by-proxy as any Bravo reality series (you know, but funny). So, well done!

This looks like it would be funny. Too bad YouTube hardly ever works now. :-(

I really like the Viking Wives..good show not sure if it's going to stay on air though. Nikon 1 j3 costco
