Great Libraries in History

There was the Library of Alexandria, the Villa of the Papyri, and the Imperial Library of Constantinople before it, and now there is RobynGIFs.

(Thank you, Haley!)

yeah-elle

This has just improved my Wednesday tenfold. No wait, how many gifs are there? That-many-fold.

leastimportantperson

What if there were one of her meeting Jane??

hallelujah

OH MY GOD ROBYN AND I HAVE THE SAME TEETH! She has a little bucktooth too! How did I never notice this??? My life has just improved immeasurably.

charizard

How is it possible that her hair was better in the mid-nineties? I think she's the only person ever. Cases in point.

My mom gave me that haircut in fourth grade and I have never forgiven her.

anonymass

@charizard
Oh my God is that some lustrously beautiful nineties hair. It almost revives everything that was actually good about the days when I would sit on my parents' living room carpet watching Friends and inspiredly imagining myself as a witty and great young adult.

KeLynn

@charizard I feel like she was just all-around way better in the 90s. It took me a few months to even realize 2011 Robyn was in fact THE Robyn from my childhood, because she's so different.

charizard

@KeLynn For real. I was in some club and that one super popular new song she had came on. I'm like, who is this? Robyn? SHOW ME LOVE ROBYN!?

I know this post is actually about Robyn gifs, but I have to confess that I always get sad thinking about the Library of Alexandria and all the works that are lost forever. I will also confess that I got a little excited while watching National Treasure when they find scrolls from the Library. Sigh.

ohpioneer

@meetapossum Me too! I get so sad. Think of all the knowledge that we never knew... oh, wait don't. It might make you cry.

Lucienne

@ohpioneer "We shed as we pick up, like travellers who must carry everything in their arms, and what we let fall will be picked up by those behind. The procession is very long and life is very short. We die on the march. But there is nothing outside the march so nothing can be lost to it. The missing plays of Sophocles will turn up piece by piece, or be written again in another language. Ancient cures for diseases will reveal themselves once more. Mathematical discoveries glimpsed and lost to view will have their time again. You do not suppose, my lady, that if all of Archimedes had been hiding in the great library of Alexandria, we would be at a loss for a corkscrew?"

(It totally makes me cry too.)

I never knew my life needed this. And now I can't live without it. My favorite is the floor-humping dance move. One which I will be sure to embarrass my friends with the next time we're out dancing (i.e. never, so it will just be in my living room while we drink cocktails).

itmakesmewonder

I never noticed how many incredibly great faces she makes, and apparently she makes them constantly. Cutest person? I think so.

LilaB

But what about that tiny little head bobble dance move she does midway through the otherwise-stationary Rimmel Room performance of Dancing on My Own? That's the single most endearing moment in the Robyn oeuvre! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kY6PU7k8iXo

laurel

@LDB Or the nosewipe at the end of the Call Your Girlfriend vid.

LilaB

@laurel Oh yeah, totes. It's definitely a tie between those two.

Moxie

I love you hairpin.

thisisunclear

This is the best, the best the best the best, and I will go back to it again and again to get visions of the worst out of mah head.

brista128

I've seen some women rocking the orange lipstick before but I never thought it looked quite right. On Robyn? It looks AWESOME and makes me want to try it (despite knowing it will look not-quite-right).

annebee

Quick Robyn question: Anyone know where I can download Robyn karaoke files? they need to be the .zip kind that have the video and audio saved separately. Anyone?

Princess Jasmine

Another quick Robyn question: can someone explain the Robyn love to me? Has she had a massive string of hits that failed to make an impact in the UK or something? The only song of hers I can think of is one where the video is her in a box (possibly painted different colours, though that may be a false memory).

jen325

@Princess Jasmine I'm from the US and I have no idea who she is. But now I know that whoever she is, she's ridiculously adorable.
