Feel Free to Drop Your Phone in the Toilet Now

What is this, some kind of sorcery? How do you hear through the ear part? (Ear part = industry term, babe.) Where do you get this "done," assuming this is the sort of thing that "gets done" to your phone? And so on, forever. Also, that bikini top.

I'm buying ten of these for melis.

Emby

@Dancersize Gold bikini tops? Just how many boobs does she have?

AHHH I NEED LIQUIPEL SO MUCH

In the last two years I have put three phones through the washing machine. One of them was my house phone.

Fun story: I am pretty sure my phone, two blackberries ago, fell out of my pocket into the toilet and was then eaten by an automatic flush. It happened in an instant and was the only way I could explain why my phone would go missing in the middle of a workday.

Wait, what about e-readers? If so, please check your local headlines for

@JessicaLovejoy my approach to my e-reader/anything touch screen has basically been: well if it doesn't get tooooo wet...

isn't that the whole point of touch screen?

Tuna Surprise

@JessicaLovejoy - they make a waterproof case for Kindle. Now if they can just make it dispense drinks and snacks, I'll never get out of the tub!

@Tuna Surprise I don't know if you had the book "King Bidgood's in the Bathtub" as a small child, but I think you should definitely read it as an adult:

@Too Much Internet: However, hydrophobic coatings are real. Check it - you can finally wear your K-Swiss when you walk through chocolate puddles. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7is6r6zXFDc

I swear I just saw a video about the laundry version of this like 2 days ago. Let's waterproof all the things!

totallyunoriginal

Is this real? I need it to be real. I've destroyed countless phones due to water damage.

...or I could just stop carrying my water bottle in my purse.

Now if only we could figure out how this can help Women Struggling to Drink Water.

dipsomaniacal

@sox The problem is that those women are already victims of nanotechnology. It was probably in the drinking water. Alanis is having a fake-ironic field day.

Ten thousand spoons!

jen325

I've destroyed several phones, but never with water. I'm a huge proponent of LEAVE THE TOILET LID CLOSED ALWAYS.

wharrgarbl

@jen325 My sister is on a first-name basis with the Verizon-shop dude on account of her penchant for, uh, stress-testing phones. It's covered under the warranty, if you buy it (she does), but you still have to go in and account for why your phone looks like that and why you need a new one. She's accidentally drowned them in, to date: the toilet (twice), the bathtub, the bay (twice), the ocean, a pond, three different pools, and (her crowning achievement) a big-gulp cup of Mountain Dew. I need to get this for her for Christmas.

jen325

@wharrgarbl This stuff was MADE for your sister!

Decca

OR, you can just stick it in a bowl of rice and leave it overnight.

Megano!

Mine feels like it needs a good wash after basically getting solicited via text last night.

@Megan Patterson@facebook: It just needs de-Bootied

Veronica Mars is smarter than me

@Too Much Internet " It just needs de-Bootied" Where are you from? Pittsburgh (or thereabouts)?

The ear part is simple enough--it must just be so thin the sound vibrations don't have trouble going through the material. I'm more concerned by the effect it might have on the charge socket--surely passing electricity through it would be problematic?

yup.

The trustworthiness of this product went up 1000% with the presence of the hot-yet-severe female scientist assistant.
