These are the fucking bane of my existence, sometimes it seems. Animal surprise, indeed. I think my sink is clean, but then it's like, ANIMAL SURPRISE, A FRUIT FLY WILL APPEAR. Then my not-so-inner A Clean Person feels like rending (laundered) garments.

@yeah-elle Ugh, yes. I am still haunted by the memory of the awful day when drosophila maggots infested my dish sponge. I've had life-threatening hospitalizations that traumatized me less.

@Cawendaw Gdhakfdjgh, nooo, WHY. This sounds on par with the traumatizing millions-of-tiny-centipedes-in-the-hot-tub-jets story from a while back.

I'll bet Natalie Eve Garrett owns a magnifying glass of some sort.

That article was weird, but in a way that I responded to?

Also, when I was a sophomore in high school I spent a summer taking a genetics course. Our drosophila that we were supposed to anasthetize and sort according to color ate through the foam that was keeping them contained!!!! We didn't see the lab again because they cancelled our experiment.
