Here's a slideshow of department store holiday window displays in New York. The dress in #26, please.
new york city, holidays, department stores, holiday shopping
the steampunk Macy's windows are so beautiful. And the Lord & Taylor kids-themed = adorable! Being a window designer must be such a fun job.
@heyits I agree! Every time I pass Macy's, I have to stop and stare. The music is epic.
Bergdorf's is KILLING IT. I think I need to take a field trip.
@liznieve My thoughts exactly! I miss NYC xmas windows! (Lalalala shhhhh don't remind me about the unavoidable swarms of tourists surrounding them, though, I'll just live in blissful nostalgia land for a bit.)
@hulia yeah. I am thinking if I go up there at like 10pm, the crowds will be gone (-ish?) and I can treat myself to a ridiculous $10 hot chocolate at the Oak Bar in the Plaza. Or a bourbon. Probably a bourbon, let's not kid ourselves.
@liznieve Bourbon in hot chocolate?
@secretbees I think we have a winner. (srsly, would that work? or would milk congeal? ??)
@liznieve I can confirm rum and hot chocolate works (and is delicious) , I imagine it is much the same.
Yeah, the Bergdorf's ones are kind of rocking my world right now.
I was disappointed in the Macy's window displays in Chicago this year. Last year it was a whole narrative thing based on the Yes Virginia story, but this year it just featured a bunch of designer Christmas tree ornaments? Although the Emeril one was pretty sweet.
The Macy's windows photograph well, but in person they're super annoying -- those glittery puppets just shake spastically in ways that don't seem to represent any human movement other than drowning. I hated them.
@carolita My favorite part is that they're creepily spazzy!
I don't get the tribute to Gaga's ego. Is she now some sort of monster/demi-god we have to make sacrifices to?
@franceschances and buy lots of overpriced crap (sprinkle-covered gum balls for $35 anyone?) from her altar.
