Young Adult Is Coming
May this movie be as good as its trailer. Written by Diablo Cody, directed by Jason Reitman, and starring Charlize Theron, Young Adult (out December 9) also has an awesome poster. I wonder who she ends up with??

That trailer hit a little close to home. Indeed, the poster is awesome. But is she clutching a bottle of liquor or a 2-liter of pop?
@RedheadInBed …
@RedheadInBed A 40 of Colt 45, maybe?
@Iliana@twitter Upon closer inspection I concur: looks like a 40. I was staring and staring and thought it was vodka but the shape was wrong. I'm old. Barely even occurs to me anymore that people still drink 40s.
this looks good, and I will see it. When I first saw stills, my thought was: "YES! A movie about a female man-child!!!"
@rootmarm also, the dialogue seems really restrained which is good? there's no "move on dot org! blog me up homeskillet!" or anything.
The dog, she ends up with the dog! No, Patton Oswalt? She ends up with Patton Oswalt. OR MAYBE SHE TAKES THE BABY AND RUNS. Guess I'll have to watch and find out?
@gigglefest My vote is for Oswalt. But I will pick him every time, mostly because of how adorable he was in The United States of Tara, and his general awesomeness.
@Megan Patterson@facebook Have you read his book, Zombie Spaceship Wasteland? It's amazing.
I'm curious about the wig.
@punkahontas Me as well.
@Edith Zimmerman it almost looked like a fall or a half wig or something?
@rootmarm Maybe it's a Jessica Simpson Hairdo Clip-In Hair Extension?
I hope there's ocean walking involved.
@silver flats and that she wins the two legged race!

Queen Bitch may be the best song.
Great casting! I will definitely go see this. I think a lot of actresses would make a role like that too hammy and cloying (Anna Farris, Zoey, Drew Barrymore), but Charlize has that dignified "Ice Princess" thing down cold (ha), and her delivery makes me laugh.
@DickensianCat Totally agree. You kind of hate her, but you don't at the same time, which is how I feel about Charlize most of the time anyway.
@DickensianCat This is a great observation. Imagining Anna Faris in that role makes me realize how perfect Charlize is, which in turn makes me want to see the movie. You know, cause it's not THAT.
@andrea disaster My former boss used to work for Chanel and so was employed to be her interpreter at Cannes film festival this year. And then she decided she didn't want her for some reason. That is my very poor-quality Charlize claim to fame.
This movie looks great. I love everybody in it.
I have a feeling that Charlize didn't do character research by hanging out with Maureen Johnson and John Green.
@LaFabuliste What a FOOL! There is not much I wouldn't do to hang otu with them. Also, Rachel Cohn and David Levithan.

@missvancity Same here. Plus Scott Westerfeld and Libba Bray.

She's serving Heigl realness in this trailer. Or all white ladies look the same to me now.
@Gnatalby Yes! I kept thinking "Is Heigl in this too? Or, wait…"
@Gnatalby It's possible I'm making this up but I thought there was something about how this character was based on Katherine Heigl? Sort of like how Anna Farris was supposed to be Cameron Diaz in Lost in Translation?
I decided. I've been thinking about this for a while, but now that Johnny Depp has ruined himself for me with his obtuse rape comment I'm just gonna go ahead and do it. Charlize Theron now occupies the place in my heart where Johnny used to reside. Sorry, Johnny, time to go. Come on in, Charlize! You'll like it here, I promise. I made cookies!
@jenergy I'm on board with this.
Yaaaay Patrick Wilson! I have loved him since Little Children. I'd try to steal him from his wife too.
I'm intrigued.
Normally I am against movies where the hot girl ends up with an unbelievably schlubby guy (because it is never, ever the other way around — Anne Hathaway in glasses != Jack Black), BUT I am totally ok with it when the schlubby guy is Patton Oswalt. And Charlize Theron appears to be acting perfectly in this. I forgot that I really like her.
I love Jason Reitman's films! This movie trailer, despite some of its mainstream trappings, gives me pause about my own ex-boyfriend facebook stalking/ "what could have been?" obsessing I am prone to do
