Ask a 19th-Century Lady to Draw a Map of a Woman's Heart

The largest regions, Love of Admiration, Love of Dress, and Love of Display, all suggest that women are also essentially shallow and frivolous.
No doubt! Drawn sometime between 1833 and 1842, this Map of the Open Country of a Woman's Heart, by "A Lady" (who could also possibly/probably be a man), exhibits the true layout of our "internal communications, and the facilities and dangers to Travellers therein." I live between Feather Hill and the River of Pensive Musings, but summer near the Tenting Grounds of Uncertainty. You?
[Thanks, Hannah!]

I'm a big fan of the mountain range around the"Region of Platonic Affection."
@Ovelle I was pleased to learn that the Friends Zone is not a recent development.
@Ovelle The City and District of Love is in there!
Gotta run, need to go drown myself in the Lake of Self Concern.
@Jolie Kerr: Funny, I was just considering losing myself in the City of Moi-meme after a leisurely cruise down the River Indulgence.
I am the Queen of the Satin Plains, but have been eying an invasion of the Region of Sentimentality. I think I could easily take over the River of Novel Reading.
I want to know what goes on in Old Man's Daring Bay.
@phlox Can't be sure, but I'm reading that as "Old Man's Darling Bay." Sugar daddies?
@pterodactgirl older gay male friends?
@pterodactgirl I, too, thought it was "daring" at first…but you're right, I think it's darling. My guess is the Old Man trusses you up in Golden Fetters?
@D.@twitter Best fetish ever?
I could never bear to leave the Region of Sentimentality. I mean, the Plain of Susceptibility, holding the confluence of the Rivers of Novel Reading & Pensive Musings? All in the shadows of the Ego Mountains? That said, I would totally summer in Town of Lady's Privilege.
Thank heaven for the Plain of Succeptibility.
After my manicure at Dandy's Rest, I'm making my move.
In the Labarynth (sic) of Fair Hopes!
How odd that the River of Indulgence has a Hairpin turn.
The other half is largely taken up by the Plain of Girls Just Want to Have Fun.
@Kneetoe
I played that song for my daughter in utero.
City of Moi-meme! (It's near Selfishness) I read about that on Facebook about a dozen times one day at work, but Snopes says it isn't real.
I grew up on the corner of Novel Reading and Dandy's Rest, but went to summer camp at the Tenting Grounds of Uncertainty. I went to college in the Land of Oblivion, lived in Coquetry for a while, and finally settled down on the High Grounds of Matrimonial. Someday, though, I want to move near Cashmere and Satin Plains. My husband's not crazy about Wilful Waste, though, so we may consider Bonnet Ridge instead. I hear good things about the schools.
I set up camp along the River Lasciviousness and never shall I depart.
Well, I guess this is as good a place as any to link La Carte de Tendre. Which I would have been really into at 14, probably!
The Country of Eligibleness is getting totally gentrified. I'm moving to the Land of Oblivion.
I have a two-bedroom cabin on the Promontory of Golden Fetters. I specifically asked the realtor for a view of daring old men.
There needs to be a new sequel to Game of Thrones set in this map.
@Ophelia Frigidness is coming
My wife's would include a large subdivision devoted to ham.
I wonder what the real estate situation is like in the Country of Solid Worth.
@NightOwl Indeed, how does one obtain a work visa to such a land?
Along the shores of the river of Willful Waste. For sure.
I have been spending far to much time in the Region of Sentimentality, particularly around the River of Pensive Musings, but I'm considering wintering in Good Sense.
<3 u, The 19th Century
@rayray: Always and 4evah.
I couldn't get my mortgage approved for Solid Self Worth because I bankrupted myself in Oblivion. Alas. (Damn you, Devil Alcohol… or Laudanum. I can never keep them straight.)
Sooooo…. are there rentals available in Enthusiasm? And how much do they go for? And Enthusiasm for what? Because if it's Enthusiasm for Steam Powered… erm… Items of Interest… I am guessing a studio with no roommates will cost more per month than a 3BR.
Of course this was drawn by a man. What woman could have this accurate a grasp of direction?
Good God. This was undoubtedly done by a man. Note how tiny the land of good sense is… and how the land of dress is about one third of the entire map. Although I'd gladly take a trip to the Satin Plains, they sound lovely.
In contrast, see the fortified Country of a Man's Heart, dedicated to industry, hard work, thrift, secret societies with funny hats, and beer.
Naturally, the Sea of Wealth originates outside the heart and flows in. I love how it branches out in Love of Dress and meanders through the Land of Selfishness.
