Did you know the Smithsonian has an online radio station streaming random dusty songs from the past? It's really neat. [Via Slate's lovely Dana Stevens, who's also on Twitter.]

I lived in Bellingham, WA, the city of subdued excitement (lol! it's funny 'cuz it's true) and guess what is located there? The American Museum of Radio and Electricity. Local radio plays hits from the earliest days of radio! SO GREAT! Flapper time, y'all:

"During the times not listed, KMRE showcases its "Golden Age Of Radio" format, primarily showcasing some of the most diverse music from the first five decades of the 20th century."

It is the best local radio station to have, ever. Give a listen! It is ridiculously fun and scratchy!

This is like when the DC NPR station broadcasts random old radio serials for hours on Sunday nights! And I love it. I always end up getting caught up in it.

@julieta My hometown NPR station used to play old-time radio too, and I had one of my most poignant "you can't go home again" moments last year when I was visiting my parents: I tried tuning in at the right time, but they don't broadcast it anymore!

This totally made my day! I emailed the link to my stepdad and he's bothering my mother with it now, bless his heart.
