Save the Date, NYC: August 25
All are invited to Professor Thom's on Thursday, August 25, to drink and mingle with fellow internet users from 7 – 10 p.m. We'll be drinking and mingling in the reserved upstairs area (#VIP), which also has a smoking deck and couches. That's right — couches! Mark your calendars with a big heart.

@applestoapples The only hope is maybe because it's a reserved room, we'll be allowed in, but only if we have "do not serve me alchohol" written on our faces? I would be willing to do that.
Or, yes, trench coat! The drinking age for giants is like seven. Failing that, we can punch the guy on the door.
@Saaoirse Well, we can use my ID to get in, which is why I'll be the head of the giant. If he doesn't buy the ruse (which he will), THAT's when you leap out from under and sucker him in the jaw. Then we make a run for it and toast to glory.
@applestoapples Oh, sorry for assuming you were also underage! I am liking this plan more and more. I will go to the tall men's shop on Edgware Road tomorrow, and see what they can hook me up with.

@jamie schuh I was actually debating whether or not to try and bring my New York friends, who are not as obsessive about how great the hairpin is, in case it might ruin the awkward mingly vibe of hanging out with my fellow internet-lurkers.
Also, I've never been to New York before. Should I really worry about the insane driving? Will I get lost and confused? WILL THERE BE PARKING?

I've already been
naggingsuggesting to my long-distance-not-really-b.f-who-lives-in-NYC that I should come visit for Labor Day. So far he's been noncommittal – and now I have to tell him I'll be staying with him for nearly two weeks since I have to go hang out with a bunch of hilarious people I've never met? Wish me luck!@ejcsanfran: Yes! You are hilarious. I am still more on the lurker end of things because I am not as hilarious and just reel in awe of everyone else's words.
