"He Didn't Know What Pizza Was"

You might be one of the lucky 300K people who've already seen this, but here's Australian reporter Karl Stefanovic trying to tell the Dalai Lama a joke. "Do you ... know what I mean?"

I've been telling this joke for years! Now everybody knows it!

@boyofdestiny But do you know the followup joke???

After he was finished eating, the Dalai Lama paid for his pizza and asked the waiter, "Hey, where's my change?"

The waiter told him, "Change comes from within."

boyofdestiny

@planned/barrenhood I wish I had more hands, so I could give this comment four thumbs up.

Judith Slutler

@boyofdestiny And now you know... the rest of the story.

hot dog princess

This is so gloriously awkward. I love it.

LastMinuteLulu

Would he have understood it better if it were a hot dog instead of pizza? Because that's how I know the joke.

shenannies

@LastMinuteLulu What's the joke? I can't hear this at work and I'm desperate for entertainment.

LastMinuteLulu

@shenannies The way the reporter told it: "The Dalai Lama walks into a pizza shop and asks to make him one with everything."

shenannies

@LastMinuteLulu Ha. That was terrible, thanks.

LastMinuteLulu

@shenannies Any time!

Acertainromance

I love how much he's cracking up at his own joke. Bet he cries out his own name during sex, too.

Saiko

@Acertainromance I'm laughing aloud at your comment (much like I do at my own jokes)

punkahontas

I saw the Dalai Lama speak in Central Park once. He was adorable, like a real-life Yoda.

Bittersweet

@punkahontas: I saw the Dalai Lama speak at a democracy conference in DC once, and shook his hand afterward. He was articulate, and funny, and serene, and wise...like the Dalai Lama.

I love HHDL greatly. I saw him speak at a thing my job sponsored a bit over a year ago, and he said this:

"I think, my American friends, you get too excited. Something good happens? Huge excitement. But something bad? Too much pain. Do not do that."

I have found it a very useful thing to remember.

Related: HHDL is on the Twitter. He posts one lovely thing a day.

Also, what the idiot reporter does not know is that HHDL is actually really funny when speaking - he cracks far better jokes than that dumb pizza shop one.

This is obviously the Dalai Lama's fault for being so ignorant.

I just love that the YouTube clip has the reporter doing a facepalm. So close!

Edith means 'reporter' in the broadest possible sense of the word ladies...(love from Australia).

mathnet

Those other idiots in the studio didn't understand the joke either! And presumably they are familiar with pizza.
