Also, I was going to make exactly the same comment about my Russian studies finally paying off, ha ha! My Russian is crap too, so that probably is the only way it will ever pay off (well, the 2 months I spent in Moscow aside).

Thanks for the explanation! Yeah, I noticed the reflexive and thought it was weird. I gave up Russian when we got introduced to the perfective (well, not immediately, universities tend to frown on that sort of thing). And then I proceeded to forget almost everything I ever learnt

Nope! It's the case, or padezh. It basically means, "To the cat very much wanting [itself] to sleep." Russian is weird and fun!
(A diminutive of koshka might be koshichka.)
That is, the case changes because of the reflexive verb: yey hochitsya spat' versus ana hochit spat'.
