Live-blogging 13 Hours of Rabbit Webcam

“This is Nadia — she really likes bunnies.”

That’s how the eight-year-old girl I’ve babysat for years introduces me to her friends, and it's true. For instance, I maintain my own rabbit site where I post rabbit-related pictures, quotes, videos, and links. The site is also where I discovered Roebling the Brooklyn Bunny, a rabbit who's the star of his very own webcam site — a “pet (GET IT?) project” run by his owners, graphic designers Kevin Dresser and Kate Johnson — and this past Sunday I spent 13 hours live-blogging Roebling’s comings and goings.

Let’s begin.

9:42 a.m.

He emerges.

10:22 a.m.

He is in motion.

10:22 a.m.

Roebling sets to work unraveling blankets.

10:23 a.m.

Roebling goes back into his little box.

10:29 a.m.

A rare sighting of bunny ears up close.

10:30 a.m.

What does he hear?

10:31 a.m.

Back to the task of the day.

12:49 p.m.

Roebling takes a grooming break — one of many.

12:51 p.m.

Roebling enjoys a lunchtime salad.

3:17 p.m.

In the afternoon Roebling naps.

4:01 p.m.

Later, he stretches and displays his bunny-butt.

6:20 p.m.

A friend rolls him into a burrito.

6:45 p.m.

Break for hay.

8:05 p.m.

Roebling thinks he's hiding, but I can see him going to the bathroom.

9:21 p.m.

Goodnight, Roebling.

My day with Roebling is over, but there’s always tomorrow.

Nadia Chaudhury sadly doesn’t have a pet rabbit, but she does co-own two guinea pigs.

FINALLY, bunnies getting some appreciation on the internet.

Roebling is not as cute as my bunny, Deco, though.

They must live pretty far out in Brooklyn to be able to give that much space to their bunny. Or they are just crazy. Or both... (Not that I don't like bunnies!)

<3 u, Roebling. You are tricking me into thinking I want an adorable bunny even though I KNOW I DON'T WANT A FUCKING BUNNY.

Also, can I just say that I am really impressed by the fact that there is no way to predict what will be appearing on the hairpin next?

I was thinking about this, too. The Hairpin is by far the best curated site I go to, in that it has no logical curation at all, and therefore the curation IS that it is illogical, which is why I love it. Love. It. Curation. Logic. Love. Done.

My theory is that the general theme of the site is Smart Women Who Like Laughing.

Of course, this could be a ludicrous attempt to define what is actually a very high-brow artistic and/or government experiment, in which Edith sits in a basement surrounded by blinking computers and FBI agents.

"It's so cute how they think they understand us."

I like when he has the salad!

I like when he stretches! Oooh yeah, Roebling.

New post: Bunnies Laughing Alone With Salad.

Nadia

There was a moment where he dumped the lettuce on the floor, paused, and then continued eating as if nothing happened.

Mocking Bird

My bunnies like to flip over their food bowl and then eat off the floor. I will then dig around under my bed to find the bowl, put the food back in it, only to watch them do it again.

My favorite part is "a friend rolls him into a burrito." That happens to me every afternoon, too.

SuperGogo

Pretty much what I do all weekend is watch my two house bunnies frolick, groom, and cuddle with each other. It's riveting. If I had a webcam trained on them too, I would've been fired from my job long ago for lack of, you know, working.
